Can set it manual or let the Bios auto detect (EPP)

Still having weird problems with 4 sticks of 1gb... sometimes it wont allow me to boot into windows and require me to re-seat the memory.

    Thanks destsh.
All is resolved now. Your board has less issues than mine basically so it runs that speed while mine will not.

Haha that's where mine is right now, for exactly the same reason. I knew it wasn't my fault. I fully agree with your opinions of @bios. I'm never using windows based flashing again. Actually that was the first time i'd ever flashed through windows and now I know why I never used it.
At least they have agreed to replace my board.

Yeah I got an email today from the disty saying Gigabyte have my board now and the new one should be shipped soon.

Mine happenend with the F3A bios flash. The bios actually flashed but then it wouldn't restart, so I think it flashed the incorrect bios because it killed the backup too.

I don't have a meter yet, it's on my list for some day.
I'm still waiting on the RMD, New Egg hasn't even opened the box yet but it's only 2 days and they are pretty good about taking care of us.

I just replace TIM with IC7 from a sample tube and looks like a good 4C drop in temps 2 hours after application. AS5 took days. I also look at the VCore on this 4600 and it's sitting at 1.328 where I use to have to run it at 1.375. Definitely a nice board and great PSU. Will be great to get the 9500 back in it since my 6600 in a GA-P35 is hauling some serious butt at 2.8G and going up soon.

Today I played a bit with my mobo and decide to find if I can run NB at CPU speeds....

As you can see I can do it easily at these clocks, but what it gives?

Firstly L3 cache latency is way lower, then Cinemabench xCPU scaling is better and memory R/W numbers are better as well...

It helps in 3DMarks and games

The clock above is max. truly stable under x64 on my CPU... Anything above and it will crash in Crysis after couple of minutes (BTW Crysis is a good stability test )

This BIOS has a completely different layout and some new options, most are very good, but memory performance is not up to speed. I am trying to get an update right now.

Will it be possible to disable the TLB-Fix in future BIOS-versions for GA-MA790FX-DS5? Or will this only be possible on the DQ6-variant?

For me that option should be mandatory in every BIOS and every board. Unfortunately big corporations are ruled by different laws, so we might be forced to Errata 298 for rev. B2. At least Overdrive will have button to disable it...

Also hopefully our great TicTac will be able to upgrade BIOSes for us...

I know for a fact, the F3B Bios I am using on my DS5 has the ability to enable or disable the TLB Erratum patch.
    System Specs:

    System 1: Asus P5E,Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB OCZ Plat DDR2-1066, Tri-Raid 0 1TB 16MB cache, Radeon HD4870.

    System 2: (wip) Asus M3A78T, Phenom II 720 BE @ 3.8Ghz, 2GB OCZ plat 1066 DDR2, Radeon 2900XT 1GB.

I downloaded new BIOS F3 (Final) and it works fine!
I can enable Errata for K10 (default is DISABLE ) and it has many more improvements and very helpful things like showing effective freq. next to memory adjustment or NB multi. setting!

Big thanks to GBT for that BIOS!

Bios options are rebuild and some settings are in different submenus. Memory tab is fantastic now! I will grab a picture to show what I mean...

Bear with me couple of minutes...

    Done!

Yeah, the new BIOS is fantastic.

Though performance of Phenom is still pretty pants - only due too clock speeds.

For the mean time im getting an X2 6400+ and sending the Phenom back, wait till the B3 9900.

    Cheers guys.

Today I was playing with NB and L3Cache speeds

    Some interesting findings...

First of my NB stable setting:

2736MHz(wish my cores would clock as well as NB )

I did several runs of 3DMark and Cinebench4D 9.5x64. In short:
    3DMark06 Cat7.12 HD3870 CF 850/2442, Phenom cpu2464 NB2688 MEM 448 4-4-4 1T Score=13305
    3dMark06 Cat7.12 HD3870 CF 850 2442 Phenom cpu2464 NB2688 MEM 448 4-4-4 1T.zip
    3dMark06 Cat7.12 HD3870 CF 850/2442 Phenom cpu2464 NB2240 MEM 448 4-4-4 1T Score=12848
    3dMark06 Cat7.12 HD3870 CF 850 2442 Phenom cpu2464 NB2240 MEM 448 4-4-4 1T.zip

For Cinebench4D 2.5GHz Phenom MultiCore scaling is:
    NB2142 = 3.04x
    NB2736 = 3.12x

Now is time for a break --> Crysis
