Ace, help me out here man...

So I got my QX9650 today and tossed it in. Jumped straight to 4.2 (420x10). I set my vcore in the bios to 1.4475, but by the time I got into windows and opened uGuru, it had changed my setting to 1.3 something... WTF? lol
My memory voltage had also been changed from 2.3 to 2.325... have you had this experience? kinda concerning that my voltages are being adjusted without my knowledge.

anyway, changed it back to the 1.45 through uGuru, but it wasn't stable so I upped the vcore to 1.4875. Under load uGuru is reporting 1.4. I'm ok with that (vdroop is our friend on this board).

I'm really just wondering about the voltages changing... is this something that's just happening to me or is it you too?

Also, I have a question about memory speeds... I set my memory to 1050 using the 1:1.25 divider in my bios, but CPU-Z is reporting mem spped of 420. I rebooted into bios to check and it still said 1050, back to windows... CPU-Z still says 420? WHY??? Any ideas on this one?

Lastly, how do I know if my temps are being reported accurately? I'm using coretemp 95.4 and at 4.2, vcore = 1.4875 (1.4 load) I'm getting 52,52,48,48
doeas that sound right? Just want to make sure I'm not frying this thing cause I don't have accurate temps...

Anyway, this is definately a different experience and I'm waiting for some feedback.

    thanks

the bios is off by 0.12-0.13, something like that!...cpu vtt is off too!...i mainly use Uguru to set the vcore which is spot on...don't trust the cpu temp either...coretemp is semi close on 2 cores; at least the beta version, 0.95.6.

vdimm has an "Auto" feature in the bios...leaving in that setting it automatically adjusts the voltage based on memory/fsb ratios.

anyway, changed it back to the 1.45 through uGuru, but it wasn't stable so I upped the vcore to 1.4875. Under load uGuru is reporting 1.4. I'm ok with that (vdroop is our friend on this board).
on my board the top end vcore readout from Uguru is the actual vcore...mine fluctuates between 1.52 to 1.55...that top end vcore readout is almost spot on when i read it out on a DMM from the board...vdroop should only be 0.05 at the high end of the chip mhz...around 4 ghz the vdroop was 0.03v.

I'm really just wondering about the voltages changing... is this something that's just happening to me or is it you too?
    it's the same here!

Also, I have a question about memory speeds... I set my memory to 1050 using the 1:1.25 divider in my bios, but CPU-Z is reporting mem spped of 420. I rebooted into bios to check and it still said 1050, back to windows... CPU-Z still says 420? WHY??? Any ideas on this one?
i noticed the 1:1.25 divider was not setting correctly when using a certain range of FSB and or multi...try switching around on the multi which will require a change in FSB.

Lastly, how do I know if my temps are being reported accurately? I'm using coretemp 95.4 and at 4.2, vcore = 1.4875 (1.4 load) I'm getting 52,52,48,48 doeas that sound right? Just want to make sure I'm not frying this thing cause I don't have accurate temps...
i would believe the 52C...beta coretemp 0.95.6 is just a little more accurate

i just got in the DFI LT X38 DDR2 board...going to start playing with that one...will let all you know later on tonight how that is going...going to try my 'G0' Q6600 on it first.

the only detractor for the board is that you can not mount the TRUE heatsink towards the rear case exhaust fan...you have to point it upwards towards the PSU (fan)...BUT...i have one of those Ultra 90 heatsinks to use or a Tuniq 120 if i want...the NB heatsink base is a little larger so it interferes with the heatpipes on the TRUE when trying to mount it to point to the rear.

working on Ace's settings for 4.4...but this chip needs 0.025 more vcore, that's a little disappointment since 4 ghz were done so easy with 1,3775
Tried to play with ICHio an CPUvtt but has no effect in this board...

With this vcore my temps benching with wprime 1024 test were too high for a 24/7 use, 77,76,70,69 this is everest read...
can you tell me if there's some differences of temps between coretemp 95.6 and everest?

try increasing your ICHIO to 1.7 and MCH up to 1.56...also, put your memory into 1:1 and loose timings 5-5-5-15-42..or leave it in auto but make sure the timings are loose after getting to the desktop.

increase your CPU GTLREF to either 69% or 70%...AND CPU VTT to around 1.20...set these voltages using Uguru...bios is not accurate with vcore and a few other settings.

if all fails, i suspect your water cooling system is not keeping up with cooling the cpu when doing the 1024M bench.

kidding aside..i heard the cold bug is there for the QX9650...some where in your temp range...you can PM "FUGGER"...he should know more about it.

thanks man, with my initial settings i've been able to pass the 1024 bench, but i was looking to low my vcore, since the temps were insane, tried your recommendations without success.
later tried 11X400 and passed 1024 bench with 1.55, maybe my chip is just a bad fsb clocker.
And yes this waterchill xternal is not a high end system so far...

if it's a hi lo like a siren then that's usually a fan rpm, temp or voltage outwith the set parameters.

On that HSF where are the fans powered from?
Without an rpm signal connected into CPUFan1 header you'll probably get a warning but your idle temps are very high too.

This may be too much to ask but I would like someone to give me some info on the ocing of the IP35 Pro. I have the the Q6600 along with Crucial Ballistix 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800. I have not had the time to look at the 50+ pages on here to see the settings for ocing this board with this hardware. I have done very little ocing but I have done some. I would appreciate it if you would tell me all the settings that I need to make to get it running at 2.8. That is all the higher I want it to go. Is that too high? It will only be air cooled and I don't want it much hotter than it is right now. In a 70 degree room at idle it is between 29-30 degrees. I have the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro 92mm. I have it on a fan controller and running on low and it is at that temp. I do appreciate it. Thanks.

Download the latest BIOS. Reset CMOS. Boot into windows and load Optimized Default. Reboot to BIOS for 2nd time and set FSB speed to 333MHz, memory voltage and timing to specs, and memory divider to 1:1. Hit F10 to save BIOS. Run Prime95 large mode for about two hours. If okay, then you can use a higher memory divider to raise RAMs to rated speed. Run memtest86, test #5 for 50 loops to check memory.

I have the latest bios and reset cmos. What will the optimized settings give me? My crucial specs are 4-4-4-12 with voltage at 2.2. What will setting the FSB to 333 get me to?
You seem to know your stuff. I need to read some more but can't find ocing for dummies anywhere. I think I know what you are talking about but am not sure. Thanks for your help and your time but could you add some more for the mentally challenged? Thanks.
