I just mounted Thermalright HR-05 IFX on both SB + NB
But i still get strange temps on NB. Like 45c idle - 50c load.

I´ve talked to 2 more ppl that has a NON-SE board with IFX cooler on and they also get around 50c load with a fan blowing on it.

Is the NON-SE version known for being hotter or?
I´ll try to remount my IFX cooler tomorrow and see what happends.

unfort. asus probe just doesnt cut it... when i switched my vga from pcie1 to pcie2 i got bsod all over when trying to run asus probe and asus suite... does this makes any sense? even if the irq steering from the chipset drivers got messed up somehow would make no sense again.. i mean this is probing we´re talkin about..reinstalling the apps no go too... so i forgot it and went for everest and also pc wizzard (from the guys of cpuz).

[QUOTE=Nuckin_Futs;2608979]If you're using the E6750, you dont need 40 strap to get 5:6. You can get 5:6 in Auto strap or 333 maunal (under v0903, manual strap under 901/902).

This can work and I did something like this in the past for another project. This is liek a natural convection stove pipe method. If the pipes to the barbs in and out are copper, one end will heat, creating high preasure, and if the other end is outside the case (near cool floor or hanging outside cold window) the cold air will create low preasure and in turn makes a natural convection of cold air moving in to NB barbs and sucked out hot end (area heated by NB chipset). You can also try just a funneled breather into one barb, in-line w/ case intake fan, and out-take pipe towards rear fan.

This actually can work and is better with a pump/fan as I did this for my Chevy 454 with a smog pump to pump air through block since I did not need smog unit. Th cooled air from outside cooled through ported heads.

Just something to play round with and try. As for dust, not that hard to check up on it and blow out with compressed air can.

Precisely.. thats what i thought. thks for the insight!

This Thread at FCG's site tells you what GTL is all about:

    Hi there,

maybe you have a faulty board? the pcie 1 on my first formula didnt work, had to rma.

Hey Zoob / Ninogui my Probe does that in XP also somtimes when testing. For me it meant it would fail Prime or OCCT at some stage soon. After uping FSBT voltage and /or MACH voltage it would be fine again and the rig running stable.

I don't know whether to attribute it to BIOS 903 or not. Would love any ideas.

    Hi

sometimes happened to me something close to that: when the board doesnt like the bios settings i´ve entered it starts up and before the first beep it shuts down... then starts up again after 4 seconds and shows off the f1 to enter bios screen. Never had to clr cmos though.. once or twice it did the process and on the second run it would shutdown by himself.. definitely, until i hit the main "on" switch to up again. This on bios 0903. Maybe you´ve entered different testing bios settings before shutting down for the night?

precisely, that happened to my before, alt at vga bios. the pcie 1 just stopped working after a few boots on a new built mobo, no OC´s !! switched to pcie 2 and all ok. then rma´d the board a got a new one, all ok for 2 weeks.

only strange thing i still couldnt figure out, even using microsoft´s bootvis is that afterwards with a new board, no XP reinstall and the vga on pcie 1 the loading your settings startup XP screen stops for 8 seconds before final loading... no disk activity, so i wonder which service or application is delaying the whole thing that didnt before, just by switching pcie 2 to 1 on a new similar board.

I suspect that somehow these pc1200 TX1200QLJ-2GK axerams are the plain and previous pc1066 with a new cooler packing, and thats it.

With the transcend axeram 1200 presently i´m really ram stable only on my 425x8 (which will be my starting point to go up) with auto divider, that means 1133 3:4 and the timmings at 5-5-5-15, 2.08 ram volt on 0903 bios (everest reports 2.16volt / vtt1.07) ccct and prime blend stable.

the next step whatever the divider is on this setup will be 1278 for the ram, tried that with 5-5-5-15 and 5-5-5-18 with no success, in fact i stopped when reaching 2.3 ram volt on bios (everest 2.4 / vtt 1.20), XP booting ok, apps running too but occt crashed after 3 minutes top.

And thats quite deep into the yellow area bios ram volt setting. Tried with different clocktwister and auto also, tried with trans. booster either auto or set to 2, or 0, no go.

I think i should use extra care when messing with ram voltage, because of electromigration, will cause your rams not to boot at stock settings anymore and progressively shorten their life.

    just take a look in

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=140870

    in these very forums.

Unfortunately theres not much web info or testings with our particular rams, just found a chinese written one at

    http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...occ2%2f66.html

already with babelfish inserted into, but from what i saw there the guy can reach 1279 at 5-5-5-15 with 2.2V (i would guess in the bios right?) which somehow i cant (can you?)

Maybe bios 0903 is not so good on memory side of equation... i still wonder if asus took it out, must be for some reason on something unstable they found out. I bet they read these forums throughly, so they could also post the reasons why... to help us out getting the best of their hardware so in fact helping them!

Tell me what you´ve reached so far and at what bios voltings, i will keep on testing for stability and will post on results.

Has someone else spotted a transcend axeram TX1200QLJ-2GK OC test.? if so please let us know.

    greets

No I can`t reach that, too. But I solved my problem with the 400strap with this settings:

The memory is tuned as far as I could get it without increasing voltages too much, the AI clock twister was set to light, as on moderate or strong the board isnt very stable, transaction booster to DISABLED (1) with DRAM STATIC READ ENABLED is faster than AI CLOCK TWISTER (STRONG) and TRANSACTION BOOSTER DISABLED(2) with DRAM STATIC READ (ENABLED).

Thanks for the thoughts. I've tried the 2nd PCIE slot and I get the same problem. I've taken out the video card the ram and the cpu, reseated them all. If I don't have RAM in the board I get error beeps from the ext. speaker. If I don't have video card the system POSTs to the point of CHECKCPU, which I believe is a BIOS CMOS check. With everything re-seated, I get no error beep, just gets to the point of initializing video and then stops...with the video card in either slot. When I had everything taken out of the motherboard I set the clr_cmos switch to DISABLED and removed the 3v CMOS battery, let it sit for a few minutes, then put the battery back in and re-installed everything. It does not appear to have cleared the BIOS.

So...either the BIOS is fubar and is therefore not seeing the video card? Or, this motherboard killed my video card? WTF? Currently on hold with ASUS, they suggested earlier that I remove the 3v battery and gave me the steps to do so. The guy never suggested that the video card might be bad.

It's 100% stable. Been running this way for a few days now. 3 hours OCCT RAM stable. 30 minutes of 3dmark06 looping stable. 1 hour Orthos Blend stable. 2 hours OCCT "Blend" (slider in the middle) stable. Been playing games, folding, benching, etc for the last 3 days with no BSODs or reboots or lost WUs. As far as the RAM sub timings, I will have to get Memset going or do a reboot and look at them. I have left those on Auto for now as I was trying to get the main parts stable first. This is with 4x1GB sticks at DDR2 1215. Parts list in the sig.

Well, I'm glad you guys are having such good luck with 0903...it was brilliantly stable for me at first and then it killed my motherboard.

I just got off the phone with ASUS tech support and RMA, they're calling it a bad flash. The guy I spoke to said that every time you flash the BIOS there is a 25% chance that something will go wrong even if it's a good flash.

The RMA process is 10 days AFTER they receive the board. This blows.

Oh, and I tried a brand new video card in the PCIE slots as well and got the same problem, so it wasn't a dead video card.

yeah, could be.!! do you have any chance of getting hold of another video card.? that would clear things up, for your sake and asus too.

thats really unfortunate... so that you dont think you´re alone, my previous and faithfull abit nf7-s paired with a amd barton 2500 that gave me such happiness for so many years died beacause of a bad flash from asus bios update in windows (ill never use it again! just low level bios upt)

but what they say is frightening... we should get asus boards with 25% chance of not paying them lolol to equal things up.

Oh, how I wish this board were an ABIT NF7-S. That's what I'm typing on right now...this board has been rock solid for me for years with my Barton 2700. Maximus Formula is my first upgrade from this system...what a difference.

Well, I've paid my one-way shipping and the board is on it's way to ASUS RMA. I'd love it if they could shed some light on what happened, but I suppose I should just be happy if they send back a working board. Such strange behavior, 8 hours OCCT blend stable and then these random shut downs and the eventual crash INSIDE THE BIOS. I could here the little voice in my head, "This means no Christmas". Well, now I get to put it out of my mind for a week or two...since it's various problems have been kind of all consuming. My family will be thankful for the respite.
