No way to make a bios with modded vgpu values?
I'd like to have one at 1.5V.
Thank you,
bye
i need help
i have just got myself a 3870 and no matter what i cannot get passed the 860 wall,
The BIOS's i have used are from techpower up and from here http://www.iax-tech.com/video/3800biosmod/03.htm
They all flash fine but i cannot get passed that 865 wall, but this screen shot makes things sooo much more confusing, do i trust CCC or ati tool ?
I'd do a hard mod for voltages but i dont thing it'll help.
Would i need to get the volt mod done to get passed this stage? if so its not a problem for me![]()

I was thinking my cards were pretty good with 930/1340 but yours1404Mhz on mem is really kick ass for a stock card (I assume it's with stock voltages)

Bye

The visiontek 3850 i have wont go any higher than 773 (769 in gpu-z) without artifacting. I had assumed it was a power issue, but maybe it is a bios issue?
OK I have a HUGE question...I have been trying to figure this out =/
I started editing my own bios's for this card (yours work fine for me)
Im doing vgpu settings edited into the BIOS in addition to your stuff...
I have a 3850 256MB...all my bios's even if I edit my stock one WILL NOT get my card to boot up =(
Im thinking this happens cuz the BIOS needs its own correct some sort of checksum value...
I looked at your 2 3850 BIOS and they work great...I did a hex comparison in them to each other and of course found the OC section you changed settings on....
But I saw 2 other areas one was bigger where the code was different. They were in same locations and Im tryin to figure if its these locations that need to be changed so the modded bios will work? are these the checksum values or something????
Anyways, will you please tell me HOW to change these areas appropriate to the settings I specificy in clocks / voltages so it will properly work on my card like yours do?
Thanks..
works great I have flashed 830/1200 to test now I can easily get higher core clocks

I can bench (3d mark 2006) 920/1290 [both card] with this bios stock cooling but my e6600 lowers my sweet points

Is there an unlocked bios for the 512MB 3850's? All the posts I see seem to be for the 256 version. Thanks
Ok I've found a solution for Gigabyte HD3870 512MB DDR3 Qimonda....
Original Ver 70 locked bios 1.22V
at 859/2100Mhz
Used a Sapphire 3850 512MB DDR3 Qimonda Bios
Ver 71 Unlocked Bios 1.22V ( http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/2...12.071108.html )
+ Editor to set 1.22V 2D and 1.32V 3D And now I got 1.38V in Multimeter
@895/2100Mhz

Great, I too have the Ultra Durable GDDR3 version of the Gigabyte 3870 (GV-RX387512H) and was looking for a solution to raise the low stock voltage and to get over the clock lock. Currently, my card is at 850/1025Mhz (855/1031Mhz) with the stock BIOS. Any higher on the RAM and I can see yellow artefacts in ATI Tool's Artefact Finder, although these are not detected. Overdrive in CCC gives a blank screen with the core at or above 865Mhz.
Is there no solution to modify the stock BIOS to get higher voltage and to remove the clock lock?
