Tried it and no better than the previous one with HD 3870...

Ati Tool's new version is out there. AtiTool 0,27 Beta 3.

    - Full Vista and XP64 support
    - Support for all ATI RV6xx ASICs
    - No changes to R600 support in this build
    - Better support for multiple adapters
    - Latest NVIDIA non-WHQL drivers with some G8x cards not supported
    - Better handling of clock step sizes
    - Fixed vertex/pixel/unified shader reporting
    - Added detection for about 20 older and newer ATI ASICs

With 55nm GPU, decent cooling (may be even with the stock fan) and increased voltages HD3870 may fly past standart 8800gt.
(Don't forget to use the new bios solving 862 MHZ barrier problem.)

    Give it a try.

Especially you Miwo, with having a good cooling solution.

Just downloaded it and uninstalled the previous version (ATITool 0.27 b2) and installed the beta 3 version...

It certainly does detect the clock and mem correctly but when I used it to overclock it failed to pass the furry cube test but with RivaTuner it works fine...
So not much of an improvement for the RV 670 cards...
But thanks for the good info...

Are you able to modify the voltage with this new AtiTool? If you can, then you may increase the voltage by AtiTool first, and then increase the GPU clock by Riva Tuner.

    I hope it works.

Doesn't seem to support voltage control...

I've checked the voltage box if it shows up a control menu for the voltage but didn't...
Don't have the experience using ATITools for voltage modification but for now it doesn't seem to work out for me...
Has anyone tried it out yet?
I'm really curious if the voltmodded BIOS really works because there are few people saying the BIOS is not working...
Anyways I hope people don't post garbage like 8800GT is better and ATI is trash and stuff like that...
Doesn't really help and considering the nature of the forum it is inappropriate..
For those who wants to stick with 8800GT I strongly suggest that you to go to another forum for your fuzz and don't clutter this forum with garbage info...
