    Has anybody tested 2x38x0 cf on the p35?

    How big is the performance impact comparing to normal PCI-E lines (8/8 or 16/16)?...

    I know that anandtech doesn`t recommend CF on the P35 due to performance loss (x16/x4 and immature drivers) but the tests were done with 2900XTs... and what`s the situation with 38x0s and current drivers? Has something changed?

    any info?

    Hmm.. 7.11 drivers are out, but no mention of crysis or cod4??

    edit: just found this on techspot..
    AMD has released an update to their Catalyst software suite, bringing the package up to version 7.11. This latest update focuses on stability rather than performance enhancements, according to AMD, fixing bugs in BioShock, Call of Juarez, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Hellgate: London, and a handful of other titles.

    The new drivers are available for Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows XP 32-bit, Windows XP 64-bit, Linux 32-bit and Linux 64-bit. AMD does advise, however, that Crysis players should stick to the Crysis Hotfix drivers released a few days ago.

    ATI Set to Launch Offensive with ATI Radeon HD 3000 Pricing.
    ATI Radeon HD 3000 Has Enough Pricing Flexibility – Sources

    ATI, graphics product group of Advanced Micro Devices, may lower the pricing of its ATI Radeon HD 3000-series graphics processing units (GPUs) in weeks after the introduction in an attempt to recapture the lost market share from the No. 1 discrete GPU supplier Nvidia Corp. The decision will allow add-in board manufacturers to decrease the prices to end-users.

    “Two weeks after the launch, the ATI RV670 drops the price,” a source familiar with the matter told X-bit labs.

    The ATI Radeon HD 3850 with 256MB of GDDR3 memory begins at $179 manufactured suggested retail price (MSRP) and the ATI Radeon HD 3870 with 512MB GDDR4 memory from $219 MSRP, available from AMD’s selected graphics products partners. Unfortunately, not all suppliers of graphics cards could get the new boards on time from AMD.

    Price reduction of the already not very expensive ATI Radeon HD 3800-series boards is likely to help AMD to capture attention of many end-users seeking for a new high-performance graphics cards for Christmas. Since the new lineup of graphics solutions support both DirectX 10.1 and high-definition video playback, the features demanded by end-users this year, the novelties truly have chances to become popular this holiday season.

    Well certainly. I'm still hesitating: shall i wait for the X2 version, or buy 2 x 3870 and be happy now. BUT it is not even available at Komplett!!! Yeah, they had a few at launch date, but now they say availability January!
    To not even mention the shops in my town, not one has the 3780 in stock...
    Lowering the price is nice, but p[lease AMD/ATI: deliver the card asap!

    new egg isn't getting any in it is the morons who put them in their cart hoping to talk mommy into buying them , then after 72 hours when the cards aren,t paid for the egg returns them to stock. that is why all the new stuff sells out so quick ...they never even leave the warehouse.
    IMO they should not remove them from stock until order is submitted.

    More than likely. I think I read some where that all new cards will be shipped with the new BIOS update. Considering all the cards are sold every were, the new stock must be the new cards + BIOS update.

    RIG:
    M/B = Abit IX38 QuadGT (BIOS 12B02)
    CPU = E2140 @ 3.2Ghz (400x8) 1.325v - Thermalright Ultra 120
    RAM = 4GB Crucial ballistix 6400 4-4-4-12 with 2.1v
    G/C = 2x Club3D HD3870 xFire
    PSU = Enermax Liberty 620 Watt
    Storage = 2x Raptor's 150MB RAID 0 + 250GB Barracuda
    Optical = 2x DVD Writer/combo(SATA)
    Case = SilverStone TJ07
    Monitor = Samsung SyncMaster 226BW

    Is it indeed a driver or a plug-in card?

    Either way, very interesting to see. Suddenly, with powerful cards that are affordable enough to be CF'd, having a broad base of CF-able motherboards has made these cards very tempting

    How does 3870 CF compare to single 8800GTX? I have X38 and would like to support the red for a change. Advice appreciated!

    hmm interesting my HIS 3850 arrived yesterday so i immediately had alook at the box to read the features and on the back

    read
    full directx10.1 with shader model 4 support

    with tape over the

    '.1 with shader model 4 support'
    so it only read

    'full directx 10'

    is there an issue with this? or is it just done because the .1 isnt out yet
