    Hi,

try to remove CPU and restart (YES, BIOS will then post BEEP-Code)

with this, BIOS detect that a major failure are in the System and set all Settings to default. Now you can reboot with one ramstick.

Notice for all people who updates BIOS: Before you do this, set BIOS to defaul-settings, than reboot and then update the BIOS.

When you run the Custom 1 hr OCCT test, where does it dump those graphs to? The ones with the voltages and such.

Is it just me, or does this board just suck on voltages as if they were candy?

When I was running 333 fsb X 9 for a clock speed of ~3005 mhz on my Q6600, I was able to run 1.25 NB volt, and 1.2 FSB VTT. That was along with a 1.293 Vcore. That's all in bios settings by the way, so my CPU in particular was more around ~1.23 after the droop or whatever you want to call it.

However, now I'm at 400 x 8 for a 3200 mhz CPU speed while maintaining my DDR2-800 at stock speeds but with a 1:1 divider.

I've been fighting mighty hard with these new settings in bios 0602 to get it stable... And thus far the closest I've gotten is:

(These are all in bios settings again, not in Windows)

    CPU: 1.316 v
    NB: 1.49 v
    FSB VTT: 1.40 v
    SB: 1.05 v
    Dimm: 1.92 v

Is it just me, or is that relatively small increase in CPU clock causing me to need an aweful lot of volts? And... OCCT just crashed, so... I guess that's not stable yet haha.

Anyways, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone's got a little advice for me, perhaps a tip or two.

I read through many of those pages, and I have tried many of the things people posted to little use.

I understand that I held your arm behind your back and forced you to read my post, and for that I apologize profusely. May god have mercy on my sinners soul!

Sorry, I should have clarified, I didn't direct my post at you. No harm intended in any case, I guess I just get peaved sometimes at how intolerant people here seem at times in regards to "useless posts." I understand that I could read through all 113 pages, but to be honest I'd rather just throw my question out there, and see if anyones nice enough to lend me a hand.

Didn't mean to come off overly agressive, sometimes I just take sarcasm a bit too far, cheers!

Here's my tip. Set the board to 9 x 400 and set all the voltage adjustments to their highest "green" levels (careful not to smoke the RAM) and reboot and check levels in HW monitor.

This is what I found worked sweet for me Folding 24/7.

You might be able to lower a couple of the voltages from max...but in general I find the higher "green" settings work best.

    Simple yet effective 3600 clock.

Any particular reason to change my 8x multiplier to 9? I live in Phoenix so the ambient temp is typically very high in my house. As such, I do get higher temps with my modest air cooling setup than you guys do with your water coolers and whatnot.

Due to this, I'd prefer to keep my CPU in the 3200 range or so, if possible. Granted, I'm not exactly that experienced at overclocking yet, especially not on socket 775. Hence why I ask dumb overly broad questions

Try a different brand of value RAM that requires 1.8V. I was having the same problem and I solved it by getting some Kingston DDR2-667, and the exact same RAM (except DDR2-533) wouldn't POST.....

Well, I went ahead and followed your advice on the voltages that I suspect actually affect stability (putting them at the max green volt I mean). I went ahead and took some pics of my settings and the bios power monitor. Figure it might help. Thanks, I appreciate any help I can get, I've spent 2 solid days trying to get this sorted, and I have mad relatively little progress.

@thelawns, Way cool, see, I I told you it should do it. What kind of vcore is used under load v/s idle? And 2.10v on RAM is great for 4-4-4-12, so you're cool there.

    Great job!

Holy , do they sleep lately? lol

    Testing!

EDIT: Initial - Latency down .03ns-- slight increases to read/write/copy ... processor performance seemed about the same.

    3 quick questions:

    1) Can you run the Maximus Formula SE with simple air-cooling, or is water mandatory? If using only air, do you need to mod anything?

    2) Is the standard Maximus Formula (not SE) available online for US customers? All I see is the damn SE everywhere...

    3) Would the P5E be better than the Maximus, even the non-SE, for someone who doesn't want to use water?

I'm helping a friend with a new build, and he doesnt want water-cooling... So thanks ahead of time!

Ugh......still can't POST past 400 FSB, even with lowering my multi to 7 and setting my memory to DDR2-800. I have good voltage settings.....my P5K could do 450 without even breaking a sweat. I don't really know if I'm missing somethere here, or I just got a suck board for OCing. Well I suppose 3.6 is a good OC, but I'm sure this chip is capable of at least 3.8......I'm only at 1.400V ad read by CPU-Z (1.4250V in BIOS)

Any attention to the use of manual strap and RAM deviders? Currently on v0802 I cant get my 5;6 for DDR1200 @ same 500x8 even with strap left to auto (333).

Yet access times are improving, as my 4GHz OC is feeling smoother and using less PLL and FSBT now, and same temps.

Keep working BIOS gods, it's not finished yet.

I just don't understand how some of you guys are getting such awesome OCs and I can't even get over 400 MHz FSB....maybe I should buy another one and RMA this one when the new one arrives.....seriously I've tried everything I know to try. VCore, PLLV, FSBTV, NBV, even SBV (really shouldn't ever matter)
    I'm stumped
Temps seem to be better on this BIOS though. I wonder whether they're simply more accurate or that they're actually different temps. It also seems that the DIMM overvoltage is down a bit.

Nice to see you both gave OCCT RAM the reference for testing this mb. Before C2D, the CPUs overclock only invloved some vcore and RAM management. Now, the FSB is so high, that the NB (so the RAM) are quiet taking the lead. The CPU still needs only some vcore (and a PLL), but to stabilize that NB/RAM is another challenge

By the way, even GAR, now on the Gigabyte, got his OCCT RAM working under Vista64 and a 3.8GHz OC, as he was sure initially OCCT bugged

Should be under my documents. But this beta has still some interface issues sometimes, as it was built to debug the calculation code (interface was left apart a bit). Also, configure your monitoring and log options in OCCT

The MCR-220 won't handle the heat from extreme OC a quad core for sure. You need to add a triple rad. Also, I'm worried about your tubing that looks really long. The rad looks to be built to go in case in your setup. This will impact your performance once your case is built, you'll have even higher temperatures than now
