I think this end of year we are to see a performence explosion like no other!

Phenom Native Quad... i think performence is more likely to be better then estimated!

Quad Crossfire with 4 x 3870XT using not much power Amd promo spider rig used a TT 750W psu!

And 790FX chipset reduces bottlenecks and now since TDP of mobos is so low dont have to worry about keeping mobo cool like 590SLI chipset!!

All in all... Go AMD go!!!

    1 2 3 4 who do we apritiate .... AMD!!

    CPU: Intel Q6600 @ 3600Mhz 24/7

BTW on Gigabyte support pages only F2H is available. Where you got this F2I version??
    Can you share it?

Lightman, well, I am just a good friend of AMD and I can request almost anything I need. I see that this thread is very popular. Therefore I have requested the latest BIOS version for the motherboard that is being discussed here. Also, I can get the latest BIOS updates for ASUS and MSI main boards based on the AMD790FX chipset.

Frankly speaking, I don’t know what the latest update brings us compared to F2h. Anyway, here is the update for XS members http://cbid.amdclub.ru/files/ma79xdq6.F2i.rar

Still the same bug with the F2i bios

Memory is not being read correctly, if I try running sisoft or speedfan system hangs. Swapped slots and same thing happens.
    System functions fine otherwise.

    Hey Lightman
Can you test a Xfi soundcard on your new board to see if the Ati/Xfi bug is still there. btw its the squeal of death thats happens randomly during gaming.
    Thanks

I'm not sure what squeal of death you mean, I've played for more that 4 hours continuously.

Have system built largely built today.. transferring Optical,HD and X-Fi from existing system tomorrow to compleate hardware build.

I managed to render unusable one of the standoff holes on my A05B, due partly to my own damn fault but also due to the A05s alu mobo tray and its softer nature then say a steel one .. bah. My other screw up was i forgot to pull back the little EMI forks on the mobo port plate so it looks a bit iffy, I could fix it but due to the huge hastle with the standoffs and getting the cooler on i cant be arsed doing some of that again.

Also a little note for others with the intention of useing this board in an A05 .. the Power LED connector will not fit on the mobos header .. wrong socket type.

Randomly during gaming the Xfi will make a loud screach noise not related to the game at all, many gamers on the ati chipset have complained of this bug see,

The standoff situation has gotten alot worse, seems some of the standoffs and/or screws are faulty somehow, this has basicly put a hold on the build, as as it stands 1 standoff is out of action and 2 others are suspect and do not hold the mobo properly.

So far my Lian Li experance could be better, this is actuly my second dodgy Lian Li case, bought a PC60 a few years ago had to return it becuse there were a far amount of factory defects in fit/finish.

Corse now I have to work out what to do about this situation and also scavenge together some stuff(not from my working build though for odvious reasons) to test the CPU/Mobo/Video/PSU caseless later today so I can at least know that that stuff works.

I know this is off topic here but im trying to save makeing 100's of posts on my build and any issue/comments i have about it.

    Exclamation

I have the system running caseless now but am haveing a fair few issues ..

    1) Running a few instances of RTHDRIBL causes 3d artifacts in eatch windowed instance once more then 2 instances are running at default settings. 3DMark wont even get past the splash screen. The GPU temp on the 3870 hits 80c - 90c (Idles around 55 - 60c) within about 30 seconds under this load, which is not that unusual temp wise .. so I dont know what this could be..

    2) Have tried Speedfan,Coretemp ATI overdrive and EVEREST and all these apps report temps on my 5000+ BE to be around 4c for Core 1 and Core 2 14c idle.. needless to say these are a bit wrong. Gigabytes Easy Tune Pro reports CPU temp at around 25c idle. This makes any attempt to stress test for temps impossible at stock never mind any OC.

First the availabity of the mobo was an issue then case issues and now this ..

Temperatures reported by CoreTemp are in line with other 65nm Brisbane's so nothing to worry about. EasyTune is showing temp from external sensor placed under CPU socket and that is quite good indication of CPU temperature.

But your graphics cards are out of spec big way! This is not right... Keep us updated!

PS. I'm getting my 2x3870 hopefully today!

Hmm. Saw a couple of not great reviews today. (Anandtech was their typical useless self)
I'm beginning to think that K10 has a major bug in it somewhere.
The good news is bugs can be fixed

Have you tried a K8 in your board yet mAJORD?
Good to see you got it too.
Time to try some max HTT

So the screwy Core temperatures in some apps are "normal" then.. hm thats freaky and will make testing/OCing rather interesting heh.

The GPU Temp doesnt seem terribly bad(Ive had video cards run stable at worse temps) Im thinking it may prehaps be some dud VRAM ?, going to phone retailer later today and speak to them about it, probibly get yet another RMA

    Thanks VVJ!
I will try it in 2 hours time (after work).
My problem is wired in a way that cards are kept at 300MHz core even when full screen game/application is running.

    Done more testing ..

RTHDRIBL displays artifacts and flickering within 10 - 20 seconds once more then one instance is running windowed, however if just one instance is run windowed or fullscreen then no issues are noticable.

As i have said before 3dmark does not get past the spash screen however I have noted dureing past system builds that 3dmark itself is often unreliable and doesnt start up properly on occasion so I am not sure how much weight to put on this in terms of stablity particulaly as installed The Witcher to test an actual game rather then a benchmark/stress test and played it for 15 minutes with no issues at all.

Thoughout testing I kept an eye on GPU temps, and these are within what i would consider safe temps, and I fail to see with the temps I am seeing how that would be the cause of the artfacts/corruption, also if it was a temp issue then all 3d would be affected under all circumstances in my experance.

So im pretty confused right about now .. anyone have any thoughs/suggestions ?

    Lightman, any time!

Well, I can request RD790 Revision Errata document to find any mention about your issue. But prior to request I have to know chipset (RD790+SB600) revision numbers of your main board. Could you tell me please, what revision numbers does your chipset have?

To determine a revision number both RD790 northbridge and SB600 southbridge you can use any software that is capable of reading PCI configuration space, e.g. WPCREDIT, etc.

The RD790 host bridge can be found at Bus:0, Device:0, Function:0 and the SB600 I/O hub at Bus:0, Device:20, Function:0. Register 08h contains ASIC Revision.
