    is it available anywhere yet, and does anyone know if they are sold through any stores in the UK anymore. was a point you could pick up a dfi from anywhere, even dabs.com , now you can barely find dfi boards and i have no clue why they dissappeared

    none of the "where to buy" links on the dfi site have anything. i think one company of all the ones listed had a single dfi mobo on. they've just evapourated completely from the uk, which is a shame.

    german webshops got it on pre-order atm.

    http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a295253.html
    184 euro and i bet once more stores get it and once 790FX boards get more widely availeble it will drop another 20 euro.

    bah, missed that, was another store with one board, cconline, i checked the brands link, which doesn't have dfi till a full list on other page :p

    but still, dfi seem very quiet in the uk. everyone on the list of where to buy would have a range of nf4, intel and budget boards in stock, ocuk, dabs, tekheads, basically everyone had them, then it all dried up.

    @6400+ Black Edition owners
    Hi there, some of you have this powerful CPU! I am going to buy it too. But there still is a lot of confusion about the multiplier. Is the 6400+ B.E. locked? Some sources claim that this CPU is unlocked as the 5000+ B.E.. I doubt this is true.

    @DFI-Support Member(s)
    First of all congratulations for this board and all other LanParty Products! They are awesome and should be in EVERY PC on this planet!
    However I complained too about the availability in the days of Socket939/AM2 in Austria (and Germany). With AM2+ this is over now, because more and more retailers have the 790FX LanParties ready to go for as low as 185€.
    There is an error on your DFI-homepage:
    You list a retailer in Austria (KTC-Watercool) who is no longer DFI distributor, since years now! The shop owners and I have mailed and posted in your support forum, but no one cared. Please erase the entry.

    @all
    1. What is your RAM suggestion for this board? At first I wanted to buy the OCZ AM2 Special 4GB Kit (2x 2GB double sided RAM, single ranked, optimized for AM2 memory controller), but it is not abailable any more and would have had only 667MHz CL5-5-5. Now I am looking for a good timed kit 2x2GB or 2x1GB, preferred single sided/ranked with CMD rate 1T possible and at least 1066MHz to be ready for a future Phenom purchase.
    2. I am going to buy a 6000+ or 6400+ for two reasons: 1MB cache/core & guaranteed 3,0GHz/3,2GHz without OC). Would you prefer the 6000+ EE (89W) or 6400+ (125W) for an attempt to reach 3,4+ GHz?

    Thank you guys and thanks for this informative review!

    I won't beat around the bush and imply that our distribution channels in the UK are that great. A few months ago our main distributor, UK side, went bust, and since then getting a reliable partner UK side has been tricky. With regards to the LP 790 board I have just gotten 2 preliminary samples in. One as my reference board and another will be sent to a reviewer. Actual stock will follow in the coming weeks. I set up my sample yesterday with Win Vista and so far so good. Seems a solid board. I'll let you guys be the judge thou after a number of you have and give it a good OC shakedown.

    who was the distributor, can't think whose gone bust recently other than overclock, but it won't be them.

    do you have an idea on price in uk, rough dates, i mean, is it not due for a couple of months, or might we see it in a couple of weeks.

    one big area where people lose out is, a lot of enthusiasts who buy new top end kit tend to like being part of that first weeks buying so they can help find tricks and ways to overclock better, where it performs best. so its pretty essential to have a new board available on/very close to release of the chip.

    Could be CPUCity, they went down the pan a while ago, tried to trace the guys, managed to pin down the people they rented the premises from, but they seemed a bit tight lipped about their where abouts.

    A shame really as their support was pretty good, and seemed like pretty cool guys

    Perhaps "wholesale distributor" would have been a better term. The wholesale distributor in question is not one most private individuals would know about. Price of products is always at the discretion of the seller, so I wouldn't care to hazard a guess on prices. Concerning availability I have checked an we expect stock at the start of Dec. Expect the board in the stores within a week or so of that. I suspect that companies such as OCers UK will carry the board.

    cheers,

    don't know why companies can't make that kinda info more available as standard. I mean a quick e-mail to even the inq, but maybe more like hexus to say stock is expected early december, also giving a rrp would help the end user because. plenty of people want to try phenom for the sake of trying something new and will buy on release with whatever board is available unless they know a rough date for a board they really want. likewise, people like ocuk tend to just whack prices up because no one is forcing them to bring them down. uk seems really bad at the moment as companies are rising prices to towards whoever has it highest, rather than the usual cutting prices to match the lowest.
