I'll be able to get a 1024mb version with the evga step-up program. I have a feeling this card will be king of the hill at least until the end of the year. Even if the ultra out-preforms it, it (the GTS should still be able to hold its own against it (the ultra).

Thanks RedBull78, nice specs. Looks like this could be the card to replace my 320MB GTS. All depends on how much better it performs against the GT.

The GT uses a standard mcw60 mount. I had to take off the gts mount and go back to the original for the gt.
If the stats are true, looks like the gts should be 20-25% faster than the gt. It uses more voltage which is a good thing, so maybe the ram can overclock faster as well.
I will use the evga step-up for this, as long as evga lets me

If only the extra cluster is enabled giving 128SP and no extra ROP's. Then assuming the same headroom as the GT, then the GTS will have 15% more performance clock for clock. Obviously with the same frame buffer bandwidth limits.

heres an interesting question: can an overclocked g92 8800gts outperform hd3870 crossfire in dx10 games?
cause i saw a review where the crossfired cards were comparable to a single 8800gtx
also, any chance of heatpipes in that stock cooler?

I had to remove the G80 mount today, and DAMN what a pain in the a$$. I didn't remember seeing the original mount and accidently remounted the same G80 mount, then refilled the water cooling system. I was kicking myself in the a$$ when I noticed that I put on the same one and the holes were not lining up.

So I got to drain and refill my loop 3 times today . I am getting some killer clocks though.

So has nvidia confirmed a launch date yet? Dec 3rd was mentioned earlier in this thread can anyone confirm whether this is true? I'm hoping it comes out soon. I'm hangin out to play all these awesome new games & all I need is a few things to finish off my new PC including a decent video card & I'm back in business.

8800 GTS 512 MB to launch by mid December

    Very fast

Nvidia won’t launch Geforce 8800 GTS 512 cards based on G92 on the 3rd or 4th of December as many implied. The new date is the middle of the month, between 12th and 14th.

Geforce 8800GT 512MB is still hard to get and we doubt that the situation will get better anytime soon, as the card is great and the demand is massive.

The new sort of high end card has every chance to be faster than 8800 GTX or even Ultra, but it will be crippled at some ultra high resolutions due to its 256 bit memory interface.

It will be there right before Xmas and we can just hope that there will be enough of them for everyone.

Wow a useless (for at least a year) API...

M$, Crytek, and Nvidia (grain of salt there) are more or less calling it a sham..

Thanks for the info mascaras. Looks like I'll be saving my pennies! This card should be plenty for the resolutions I play at.

I'm hoping they release the 1gb first or at the same time as the 512mb card, like what they did with the 8800GT 512/256.

I'd go out on a limb here, but I think it'd come close to it, yes.
    Just a guess tho

    Generalizations are, in general, wrong.
