Yeah I always figured that those pins on the motherboard were for RPM detection.

Anyhow I've got two small fans over the PWM area, what's cool is that because the PWM and NB are heatpiped, just cooling the PWM has cooled the NB as well

Prime blend has been going for about 10 minutes so far and temps are 49C on the PWM and 57C on the chipset, that's 7C for the PWM and 8C for the NB. I have a spare 120mm at a friends house that I'll throw on later, so far both are under 60C

Told her I felt like staying home, and she came here and we ordered Pizza. crazy thing is when she saw my pc she flipped out!! she used to work for some speciality company soldering smd's on miniature boards. she is a master solderer! when I showed her my volt mod on an old p5b deluxe, she said she could do mods like that no problem!! she soldered 8 hrs a day for a couple of years! needless to say Friday we are going to Red lobster. hell I may even pay!

I dated her a dozen years ago, she lived with me for a while, I know she has skill

    back on topic:
One word of advice on the fan plugs, do not plug in while the board is on! I was gaming one day and decided to put a 120mm pointing at my n/b and video card and the board re-booted. scared the crap out of me. i used to hot swap fans when necessary but never had a board shut down from it.

    Heres what you need for 3400mhz X8 Multi 425 FSB 333/667 CPU VTT = 1.35v NBV = 1.45v
    GTL 1/3 = 94 GTL 0/2 = 94 NBV GTL = 100

CPU Vcore and Ram Vdimm will vary from situation to situation but the specs I just gave you works @3400mhz 333/667 for Quad Core so I know for sure you are throwing way too much voltage to board voltage!

Anyone running 266/667 strap with 4GB of ram highly clocked successfully or is the 333/800 better recommended for that?

tried to push mine past 3.6, i went straight to 4ghz (8*500), it'll post but wont load windows, had volts upto 1.63. backed it off to 3.8 (9 multi) still no good, so i went to 8 multi and 475, booted windows, but no matter that glt's and volts i set just isnt stable, i might order a GO next week.

orthos failed at 5 hours on my settings. i think the chipset and pwm temps were too high.

im trying it now at vtt 1.35 94,94,100 and nbv @ 1.45v...

I'm still confused about J16 jumper. What is it for? That jumper is near the Lanparty text/logo, close to the cpu fan header.

I'm also curious to hear input from other 4gb users. I'm using 2x2gb G.Skill 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1V. I just got this board today and am working on the OC. Just curious to hear input from others as well.

With four 1gb crucial ballistix the highest clock I was able to get stable was 1112mhz 5-5-5-12 (these sticks do 1250 5-5-5-12 on warrantied voltages in 2 stick config). Seems this board only plays nice with 4x double sided modules if you do a lot of fine tuning.

But since you're using 2x2gb, that's totally different

There's a lot of talk about that Gskill kit you're using in the Xtreme Bandwidth part of the forums. Lots of people seem to be getting good result on low voltages. Great clocks for a non-Micron based kit

That reminds me Thank you again for the chip Brother, you saved my sanity, I will never be without a back-up again.
Those that don't know last friday morning I was flashing to the new bios and a few seconds in it rebooted needless to say the bios was toast. with a three day weekend I had set aside for gaming I was upset. I pm'd Brother Esau and he said no problem. offered to get it out that day! so I asked if he could overnight it and he said no problem (my cost obviously). and boom saturday my new , tested, static bag protected bubble wrap encased chip arrived. plus I got a free sd card holder . no personal letter or pen like petra's but I was still thrilled. , day wasn't perfect as fed-ex was involved and you know how that goes. and my raid refused to be recognized but after a fresh install all is right with the world again.

Well my board is shipping right now and am seriously thinking about getting a BIOS chip from Esau PM BTW

But to get a cleared idea of how to reflash a bad BIOS chip, do you just do a hotswap/reprogram to retore it?

Anyway, I cannot wait to get back to some DFI OCing. I am actually quite excited!!

basically. read up on it first, get a dos boot disk etc. and realize you are doing something risky. not to difficult though.
