Its a niche waiting, I agree.
I'd like to see a screw thread material combo that gave more feel. I think a lot of users don't know when their screws hit 'finger tight' with the current non see through tops. With 40 years experience it was still a challenge to me that I met by generously under tightening. Never the less they passed leak testing.

Im talking about a real top, cmon!

Id easily part with $30 for a delrin top for my D5, even if there was no performance gain. Some of us want to make the switch to 3/8 tubing, and with the D5 its just not possible, 1/2 is hard enough to squeeze on those barbs!

    Eddy,
Is there any performance difference between the G3/8 port DDC top and the G1/4 version?

Ummmm... Last I knew all DDC pumps had the same housings, so they all could use the same top.

Taken from Petra's blurb on their top:

"The DDCT-01s represents a minor revision of our original DDCT-01 design, providing compatibility with the newer, blue impellered Laing DDC-3 series of pumps that are currently available in Europe. In addition to expanded compatibility, the DDCT-01s also provides slightly improved performance, with slightly reduced power consumption."

That blurb was put there partially because I had to make a slight design modification to make the top compatible with the smaller impeller inlet eye that Laing switched to with the DDC-3 series pumps. Remember, my original top was built around the DDC-2 pump (which had a larger inlet eye). At this point, because Laing discontinued the older pumps, I'd hope that everyone would be designing for the DDC-3 series (in which case, compatibility shouldn't be an issue).

Honestly, though, I'm kinda hoping that Eddy's top gives me a good, solid reason to redesign mine... because I'm pretty certain that I can get more out of these great little pumps and nothing breeds innovation like a little competition.

I was rather selfish in asking as i have 2 ddc Ultras sitting here.

yes, i like how that sounds. you two go at it for a year, and while you are at it, see if you can get liang to improve their pumps too. i want NO sound whatsoever from the pump once i put on your tops. SILENCE! and then when i finally get a job (end of 2008 at the earliest) we can see the fruits of the innovations.

    ahhhh, sounds great!
