Good news!
Gigabyte released new BIOS for our boards called F2H!
Some changes from memory (I just quickly run through BIOS a minute ago):
- improved memory settings, now every thing should be working..
- added support for EPP memories and EPP overvoltage,
- Added AutoExpress option (automatic PCIe OC??),
- Much more options for configuring PCIe slots (HW switch, SW switch and 2 more I forget),
- More options to tweak HTT links
- Improved compatibility with various DIMMs
- Support for new AM2+ CPUs (new revision coming or just update after model number changes).
- and more ...
@BadNizzle
I believe if you look @this thread you will find single card AMD records![]()
@EniGmA1987
I can run tests for you, just send my a list or post it here. I will test max HTT on Friday....![]()

All these new AMD motherboards are so expensiveI love it that you can get a really nice biostar AM2 board for only $80 that works great. Why does everyone have to raise the prices so much for these? I was planning on buying a motherboard and 2 graphics cards with this paycheck but I guess I will only be able to afford 1 graphics card...

AMD was suggesting a lower price point for these motherboards. Likely prices will drop to sub-200 once more boards come to the market and the new-ness has worn off.
I've played with my comp just couple of minutes after BIOS upgrade but it was fine. My wife is using it since monday tho without an issue.
I never had problems with booting except failed OC... looks like either one of your parts is making problems with this board or board itself is faulty... try to RMA it.
BTW my MA790FX is giving 2.323V with only +0.4V set in BIOS, so I can get 2.432V easily... that is enough for my D9GMH anyway!

Hi Lightman & BadNizze,
Stumbled onto XtremeSystems googling the MA790FX-DQ6.
I've just gotten myself one but have found some weird issues and would like to ask if you experience them to determine if its a BIOS or hardware issue?
I'm not able to use CPU-Z to identify the 2nd memory slot when running in dual channel mode. (e.g. memory in slot 2 or slot 4 when running in dual channel), This issue was not found with BIOS version F1.
Running Sisoft Sandra Lite, Speedfan and sometimes AMD Overdrive will cause the system to hang, both current available BIOS versions replicate this issue.
Other than those 2 "bug" this board runs 3dmark fine and I was able to do all my usual tasks on it stable (E.g. Played Team fortress on stock settings for 3 hours straight)
Haven't tried to meddle with any settings yet due to the system crashing![]()
For me CPU-Z is identifying things correctly!
AMD Overdrive on the other hand is, lets say, problematic....
------------>
UPDATE
Again it is stable!
I also tried 450HTT from BIOS but with multi 7x and it didn't worked, but this might be problem with setting 7x or lower multi on this mobo. I tested 6x multi and it resulted in 10x multi![]()
.... are Gigabyte programmers smoking something
???

Lightman and others with the gigabyte 790FX-DQ6 Board. How does youre board reacte when you set something that does not work, for example i tryed 340*9 and the 533 divider, board does not post and the familary beeeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, Clering cmos does not help at all. Is this normal? Or is my board dying? If it is I need to cheak my voltages.... from my "wall" suspecting voltage spikes is killing my hardeware.... I CAN`T be this unlucky! (3 dying mobos in the last 6 moths....)

When I set setting that didn't work then mobo simply stays @black screen for around 1 minute and then resets itself to safe setting, displays you screen with list of recently used BIOS settings to choose from like last setting, or setting which worked 5 times in a row or more than 5 times. In extreme situations it stays @black screen forever and then I need to do clear cmos, but this is rare (so far it happened twice)!

I'm interested at building a new AM2+ rig but I've been told that gigabyte boards suck in terms of quality .Is this true about this model or should I get an asus(long term asus user here)?
They ust to be cheap and nasty but now are comming up in terms of quality with good high end bords but i still would prefur Asus mobo or DFI
Only reason well one reasonfor ppl buying this bord is its the only avaible 790FX mobo currently availble!!
Still im sure its a good bord but will be put down by likes of DFI mobo which comes out DEC/Jan
CPU: Intel Q6600 @ 3600Mhz 24/7

MB: DFI LP LT X48-T2R
HDD:150GB WD Raptor X
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 1000W
Screen: Dell 2407WFP
Thanks for the info .I never had the chance to use a gigabyte mobo so I don't have aby personal experience with their older products , but I haerd some "horor" stories about their quality .On the other hand asus never failled me so far.However dfi's lp&lp ut boards are targeting the hardcore ocers and I'm not one of them , though AMD's overdrive app is a major plus for me(I've got a c2d rig but I'm fed up having to change a mobo every 3 months).Hopefully there are going to be more options and better prices after the official launch as I'm lining up for an early Xmas build with quadcore and quadfire in mind.
I built a rig for my dad he wanted quad core system in the summer and Q6600 was only reasonable priced one at the time but ive had issues with Mobo such a 680I chipsets.. not impressed with C2D!! performence is good though but i think Amd will come up trumps... currently Amd platforms are seen as much more reliable and stable! might not have best performence but what about if Amd then increases its performence with Quad chips... its now comming to light so Amd will have best of both worlds Stabilty with great performence... Intel might have lead in performence but stabilty well no comment![]()
