But low latency timings are pretty useless on Intel CPU's, ofcourse every mhz/latency helps but sometimes not worth the cash...

I stick that he best gets the PC8500 dimms if he wants to make sure they will run at 1066mhz 24/7...

    I think you're right.

I'll go with the PC8500 memory modules.

Which brand do you guys think it's best:
    1) Corsair Dominator 8500C5DF
    2) G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-2GBHK
    3) Crucial BallistiX PC8500 BL12864AA1065

ps. I'm going for 4GB, so 4 times 1GB sticks.

This http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231145 kit performs amazingly well, 1000mhz @ 1.9V on the Striker for me, they do not overclock well, but at those volts, these will last, compared to the high failure rate of the D9's you are looking at.

Also leaves the door open for 8gb in the future

There is a Gskill section in the forums here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...play.php?f=185 if you ask in there the Europe or USA rep will answer your questions and probably be able to get you in touch with where you can purchase from your location

Akuma I'm from Belgium mate I ordered mine in Ireland via http://www.memoryc.com (thx Andy(Uk) for the tip), I payed about 225 euro's with shipping for my kit, delivered in 4 working days, also it doesn't matter where they are coming from , you need to RMA them directly via Gskill in the Netherlands in case you run into probs...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Drop the 1 T mate, that's not good with 4 dimms + quad and if possible set ram voltage to 2.2 you are still pumping about 2.4 real volts through the ram as the board overvolts !

so 425FSB (1700) with ram at 850Mhz is that dreaded DET IDE error ?
Just 4 fun try all voltage settings on auto just set CPU and Ram manually... does your heatpipe get any extra cooling ?

-yes evertyhing betwen 1400 FSB and 1800 FSB makes DET IDE.
-already tried all voltages in auto and doesn't post : DET IDE
-yeah heatpite got 40 mm fan on the chipset, the one wich if gave for watercooling use on mofset and a fan of 40 mm in front of the dimms

I would love to know if 400fsb + Q6600 is a no go on a new striker with soldered bios chip and why 400fsb is OK on A1 revision EVGA???

400FSB on a Striker is a no go , 415, 417, 425 work though all depending on ram divider and co... it can be done on the new rev EVGA becasue they made some quadsupported hardware changes... Asus didn't build mobo's on the reference design which they should be credited for as they didn't have any of the early 680i issues, today however with quads it might be time to move on to Intel chipset unless the 780i is the real thing ( or what 680i should have been from the start )

And believe me it doesn't work on all EVGA's either... 680i in general isn't without it's flaws...

My two cents. Stick at 1:1 sync or DDR@900Mhz unlinked.

I just did the vCore and vDroop mod, as detailed here @ XS and it actually lowered my overall vCore from 1.675v to 1.47v...

WTF is up with that? At stock my E6850 was apparently pulling 1.08v...! Has anyone else had a similar experience with the mods?

Guys how do you know which revision of the striker extreme clocks quad cores well?

Cause as with 680i motherboards, quad core overclocking is quite tricky.

As for evga you can get it changed to a quad-core friendly motherboard like
    A1 rev.

So for Striker Extreme how do we identify if it is quad core friendly, or is a bios flash or that is needed.

Bios only, they did not do any hardware changes in the revisions on the Striker, only change was the manufacturing process, moved from Taiwan to China, and the bios chip is now soldered onto the board, instead of being removable.

So if i change the bios to quad core oriented, will i be able to clock quads to above 400mhz like the EVGA?

    @ kup & linflas:

I read you guys did the pencil mod.

Some other questions about the mod:
And did you used a multi-meter?
Did you used B4 pencil or other?
How many strokes (in case I want to bet on it, without multi-meter)

    @ linflas:
I read did the vdroop mod, but did you also do the vcore mod?

    @ Jeremyz:
Just flash the BIOS to version 1303 or 1301 and follow the settings you can read in this topic
