I have to say these Q6600's are kind of quirky. I was doing some Prime95 testing last night, and although I can run Windows all day without a crash at 3.6ghz 1.3875 vCPU, some cores will fail the test within minutes, while others will continue without a problem for hours. All 4 cores weren't stable until I upped the voltage to 1.425. I'm feeling the need to lapp more and more since it appears that my "best" cores run the coolest, and the ones prone to failure run the warmest.
Thoughts?
Prime is heating up your cpu more than any app you are running and also there will be more vdroop when priming, hence the difference. Personally if I can prime a quad for an hour or 2 that is plenty for day to day tasks.
