I'll never be able to compete with a commercial block manufacturer in terms of fabrication time & costs, but I think I do have something to offer in terms of a custom service. Commercial block can't offer you the option of selecting materials or little tweaks here and there to make it a one of a kind block, but that's something I can easily do.
Why are you working on someone else's block!? I already ordered 50!!

Congratulations on your results. I've been following this thread and it's been great to see your design mature.

PS. I'll take 100 now that it looks so hawt
    Can you deliver next week?

Goinng to have to quit my day job first..

I'm not quitting until I'm in the lead...Then I'll start workin on making it look cool. Maybe embed some UV LEDs somewhere. Needs a cooler hold down plate too.

Fantastic job man, pretty sharp looking for a DIY block, and great performance as well.

Can't wait to see what you do to improve this!

Just curious, do you work somewhere that has a cnc machine? do you own one? or what? Just looks shockingly well manufactured compared to a lot of the blocks on here, wondering how you made it... didn't see it in the other posts, sorry if I missed!

I just have a multipurpose mill/lathe combo in my garage, all manual though, no cnc. I used to work in a machine shop growing up and did alot of fabrication type work many years ago. But now I'm just an engineer stuck behind a computer or in meetings most of the time. So I enjoy a little milling in the garage especially if it's for satisfying my own curiosities and need to tinker..

That's damn good work for being manual, can't imagine that doing the pins was any fun.

    Excellent work.

Really, really nice work there Martinm210!

Are you planning on mass production? Seriously, I'd be interested in a block like this. It would need to have a Metal Hold down plate since i think that Plastic or Acrylic one looks "fragile"

    Keep up the nice work!

Thatd be my only change as well, solid metal would be nicer IMO.

Could always make a copper top and braze them together.. that would be hawt.

    Yeah,
I might start making some on the side, but I want to keep up on the development until I just can't get anymore out of it.

I kind of like the idea behind the center pivot mounting plate, but yeah I don't like the 1/4" acrylic either. Acrylic is weak, but lexan is fine.

I'll have to look into some different options.

Maybe a stainless plate, or make the top 1/2" lexan block wide enough to serve as mounting plate too.

Black or white? I have both.

Actually acetal is much easier to work with than lexan, no cutting fluid needed.

White would be a nice change, but either would look sweet.

Great, I was thinking white would be a nice change too. But I wasn't sure what folks would want. But any of the black/white acetal/delrin or lexan I think make a good strong top.

Can I ask what you guys think would be a reasonable price for one?

Still trying to figure some of that out..thanks!

No, not yet, but I did design it around both. Both the slot nozzle and raised base are specifically designed to emphasize cooling of a 23mm square section which will cover the die of a quad.

I've had some folks volunteer to do the testing, I just havn't gotten that far yet. I should probably pick up a quad just so I have that ability.

Sounds great Martinm210! Black top? I'll take one

I'd be interested in seeing temps on a Quad core as well.

As for the price, maybe around the FuZion's price?

As far as price goes, the lower the better but people will always pay a premium for the best & for custom work. Really depends a lot on how much the materials cost and how much you charge for your time.

Thanks guys, not sure the numbers will ever pencil out compared to my regular job, but I'll probably make a few on the side for fun anyhow.

It's my goal to make a block that is on top, even if it does take me 20 hours to make one.. If I could sell a few that would at least cover some tools and materials. Materials isn't that much, it's mostly time..
