Some site really needs to get a review of these new 8800GTS out so people can decide which to to buy ... 8800GT or a new GTS!

It's kinda ridiculous right now with so many cards ...

That's good and all, but it isn't even available on their website...

    Smells like vaporware to me.

NCIX has them .. $409CND .. but no one knows how good they are .. so I'm not spending the cash still I see a good creditable review comparison.

If it's using G92 chips how come it's NOT PCI 2 and occupy a single slots like the GT ?

Perhaps it's not actually G92, but just a G80 cut down from 8 to 7 instead of 8 to 6 units for the old GTS.

Seems like the 8800GT will still win out. This has the same number of shaders as the 8800GT now, but it's still clocked quite a bit lower (for the default version at least and the shader clock). The 8800GT showed that the memory bandwidth wasn't tooooo important for most games, although the slightly larger frame buffer may help the new GTS in certain cases.

I do think so too, it must be a way to get rid of the 80 stocks

but having waited the release date of G92 8800 GT to launch these is going to create so much confusion in a while...

Ever tried running with one shoe on? Not so easy....

Just easier to take off the last shoe...so probably no better than 2 original GTS's

Does anyone else think that it may be possible that with the same amount of Stream processors that this 640mb card might actually outperform the 8800GT due to it's higher memory bit-- 320 vs 256?

Probably not since the speed of the shaders is lower. And we've already seen that the memory bandwidth difference between the 8800GT and GTS isn't that obvious. The extra bit of frame buffer may help in certain cases though.

He who comes up with the idea should try it first then let the rest of us know.

thing I'm wondering is what the 1300mhz shader clock will do the performance, especially with the 8800gt being at 1500mhz

I know it isn't much but I just received the card tonight but I wanted to get something up for the community ASAP.

meh ... 1300Mhz shader ... in shader intense apps like OBlivion and Crysis, GT can still beat it, i only wish they put like 640MB VRAM in GT... whens that 9800GTX gonna come out, as i heard R680 = dual RV670 GX2 style ....

These will replace the GTX line while nvidia can work on something high end. I think its a great move. Go nvidia.

These are definitely G80s and SKYMTL's is an A2. With A3s, shader overclocking will be great (like G92, 8800U's, and the rare 8800GTS.A3), so that might give it an advantage in the end. A2s...we'll see....end-result OCing will probably favor G92-based cards, and run cooler.
