I usually see vmods first appearing on VR-Zone & Techpowerup. Maybe Yantronic / Shamino have something in the works, since they had a fully working 8600gts vmod 2 weeks before the card publically launched :o

Increase voltage, add better cooling, crank the core up

The chip runs really hot on the stock singleslot cooler

So is that like a driver you download that does that allows that or do you have to buy a particular card that has it already made?

It's a physical soldering modification to the card that you do yourself electrically.

Read this on the eVGA forum, god I hope it is not true.

"I posted the 8800gt links for newegg last friday and EVGA had a royal cow. They called Newegg fast and threatened them to remove the info because the card wasnt released yet. So Newegg dropped a load in there pants and removed the pages completely. I called Newegg today and they stated that the Webdesign team has to rebuild the pages and expect them to be available by Wednesday of this week. EVGA is pretty lame for getting their butts up in the air over nothing. Oh big secret and then when the day comes they sit back and do nothing. Thanks EVGA, lame as always..."
