Cooler Master Unveils Hydra 8800 Graphics Card Cooler



Cooler Master unveils their Hydra 8800 graphics card cooler which is a hybrid air and water cooler. The new cooler is specifically designed for NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 series and features a copper base with three heatpipes along with a silent, 19 dBA, fan spinning at only 1800 RPM. The watercooling nozzles have 360° rotational abilities and perfectly fits 1/2" and 3/8" tubing sizes. Pricing and availability are still unknown.

I would avoid this thing, combining alu with copper is never a good thing.

For the same price you will most likely be able to get an EK fullcoverblock i presume.

If you look at the other i-s, they too have the dot almost "melting" into the body.
So I'm not so sure that is a typo.
CFM instead of RPM is, however.

Got one of these right here. Looks pretty promising...but the realtest is if it will stand up to my air cooling tests and my reviewer's water cooling tests.

Decent concept, maybe have the fan power down at idle and low loads, then have the fan start going up for heavy gaming.

Aluminum + Copper = Bad. Hopefully they don't both touch the liquid.

AL is the biggest heat capacitor per gram, while the copper is the best heat conductor.

Aluminiun+Copper = best combo, efficient cooler with high heat capacitance and high heat conductivity.

+ plenty of corrosion.

whats the deal with all those hybrid h20 cooling experiments. i dont know of anybody whos using them...

in my opinion it wont ever be successfull...
90% of the people wont use the h20 option and the ones that do want to watercool will replace the stock cooling cause they want a really nice waterblock. i mean people buy blocks over other blocks cause they will get them 1 degree lower temps, why would anybody who wants to watercool settle with a so-so block?
