you can go into msconfig and check off "no GUI" boot...that will shorten the boot time.

the other thought is a driver taking its time to load.

Its a bare Vista install I always trash installs with hardware swaps

Will see what else I got kickin around in there.....anyone got problems with enabled onboard audio+LAN And this sort of issue?

EDIT: Maximus on 0505 at same settings compared to my P5K Premium is showing some impressive performance gains from an everest standpoint at least

The better temps come from the actual applied voltage being lower....

In theory say you set 1.5v after windows load and load on processor it goes to 1.4v yes its going to be cooler, but no its not giving the right voltage.

With it on theoretically 1.5v should stay 1.5v or as near to that as possible.

So keep loadline enabled, whoever told you to disable it is mistaken since you dont want differences(at least that much) from BIOS set voltage to actual windows and usage load voltage.

Also have 500x7 DDR2 1000/1250 4-4-4-10/5-5-5-15 working as well and stable.

500x7 takes 1.45v and a slight increase on the NB/FSB voltages and ram takes 2.28v for DDR2 1250 stable at 5-5-5-15 with some pretty good subtimings. I got some screenies goin up soon as blend finishes for 450x8.

Done nothing with 400x9 with DDR2 800 or 1000 but I would imagine its all the same, I like higher FSB's more

    A little test

Heres the difference between tweaked subtimings and AUTO

The subtimings I have been using 7-3-5-4-6-4-6 have been great, real stable as well according to blend and memtest. I will be trying to lower the values some more in the coming days.

    -Cheers
using the same settings on my bios, and it is not stable when ever i run prime 95 it will just freeze any ideas?

You dont have my ram, or my chip

That 1066 stuff you are using probably cant use those subtimings, might come close but nothing at those voltages. And I have a beast of a G0 quad so only use my settings as a reference not verbatim unless you have similar equipment.

On that note heres the fruits of my labor, the following stuff is 24/7 stable.

Everest test was run 2x just for consistency sake.

And heres quick comparison (sans the Maximus's subtiming control, and ability to use higher transaction booster settings. P5K premium wouldnt run Transaction well at all, so I used DRAM Static Read)

You may draw your own conclusions

Considerably better read/write and 10ns difference. I would say Maximus is clear winner

EDIT: Oh yeah heres the 1M calc

    X38 - 14.359s
    P35 - 14.835s

Id say thats a nice improvement.

Increase your NB value to 1.53v and see what she does.

Set transaction booster to 1, but keep subtimings as is....might be too tight timings.

Nope... it probably wont change. The difference between your memory, and my memory is about 250$ difference per 2GB kit, and alot more binning as well it was binned for CAS3 DDR2 800.

Just relax some of the settings in your bios, and tweak some voltages and keep trying it. Every rig is going to act differently.

No, at date of purchase my ram was about $900, the Dominator 8500's were only about $500-600 for 4GB kit and are like 2nd from bottom of the dominator lineup.

IMO 9136 and 6400C3 (and I would say my 6400C3's can hold their own against 8888's at 2.4v considering I run 1000 4-4-4-12 at 2.18v) are about on the same playing field, where 8888 and 10000 are high performance.

The binning on 6400C3DFs is alot higher than the 8500s, its considered more of a "performance" part than the 8500s are since my ram will do right up to DDR2 1100 4-4-4-12. 8500s are CAS 5 @ 1066, and my subtimings can be alot tighter given they are higher binned chips...then again in the semiconductor world its all really random from each piece even if it is meticulously binned for performance.

EDIT: Also note, they have discontinued Micron IC's on the 8500 lineup... not sure of the production cutoff date, but the newest kits will not be micron based.

    Source:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...d.php?t=158651

If you purchased those recently Miguel, check your sticker on the side of your ram...you might not have Micron if they are brand spankin new.

You should be perfectly fine mate

@Miguel - did you set Transaction booster to 1? or even off you might not be able to run it at all.

    Also try this

any questions about that feel free to ask Miguel.

After you find lowest Vcore for your CPU using SmallFFTs from Prime95---- Go ahead and mess around with RAM settings and run Memtest 86+ 1.7 and let it loop 2-3 times and see if it comes up with any red.. if not tweak a little more see if you get any and repeat till you get red. Then relax and try 1 more loop and if your happy with your current timings and voltages then go for a 12-24hr Prime95 Blend with roundoff checking.

the 8500C5D's if they are still micron, if not its a toss up between the 2 kits.

My ram is the 6400C3DF found here.

Mmmh I think my CPU isn't really good because I can't pass 460Mhz for the FSB, and I had the same problem with same CPU on the Blitz Formula ...

Is it possible for an E6850 ES to be at maximum at only 460Mhz FSB ?
