Yeah, I think abit would not replace/repair the board if you sent it back to them modded. I could be wrong as I know DFI had an "Approved" aftermarket HSF they endorsed for the old NF4 boards.

Best bet would be to replace it with the original pins, but be prepared in case they figure out that the HS was removed (that does technically void the warranty).

Anyways; just try and make the board look just like it did when you popped it out of the box, if you can pull that off; then I say you should be fine. Think nice and shiny

    Post Odd Boot Issue

I just had a odd question, regarding a possible problem. Whenever I unplug the power cord to the PSU unit and move the computer. When plugging back in the cord my computer won't initially post, but will power up Giving post code 26. I have to unplug the 24-pin power stripe from the motherboard and then also the video power cord, wait 10 secs. then plug it back in and BOOM...he powers on full boot. (He does this even running stock with a cleared CMOS)

I've heard that memtest doesn't work on our updated bios. Just a little stuck on this one.

    Inside details:

    Bios version: 14
    Post Code: 26
    Post Code Definition:
    1) If Early_Init_Onboard_Generator is not defined Onboard clock generator initialization. (Help )

    2) Init onboard PWM (Is this relating to the temps of it?)

    3) Init onboard H/W monitor devices (Not finding that my monitor is plugged in)

Other then this issue; Zero is killing it on the charts and in my books. Still on the stock cooler with temps on Load 40-45range and running @ 2.6GHz Orthos/Prime95 stable of 13+hours.

    Thanks in advance

IMO revert back to bios 1.1, im still running it on my rig. after reading varing issues on abit's forums. im not touching the bios some of the issues that cropped up are taken care of. seems these later bios's are not quality like the first one.

try different memory if you have it or take the memory down to one stick and try it in different slots...usually no post means not enough voltage either for cpu, memory or video card

I figured out my problem! I've been trying to run the 8x multi with an E6600 for 3.8gh and ~ddr1200. I guess running a lower multi other than default puts a greater strain on the NB because I have no problem getting ddr1200 with the 9x. No errors!!

Yeah I know, but I was jamming it more than I wanted to without much success.
I think I tried up 1.56v for ddr1200 and the 8x multi and it still errored in memtest. 1.37v MCH and no errors for 9x multi and ddr1200.

I think I'm gonna push this at 9x for awhile and see what I can get.

I just updated to bios 14 from abit's site and all is going well except.... uGuru is not reporting my cpu temps correctly... My system and pwm temps are working fine but my cpu temps are stuck at 31c and won't move even while running orthos..

I tried Core Temp and its reporting correct cpu temps idle and full load so it just seems to be uGuru. I'm running the latest version of uGuru 3.1.0.4

damn, that sucks. I just opened up the box on my new IP35 and thought I would start all the prep work and do the HS mod first. And what do I do? I clip those damn pins off. I hope there's nothing wrong with the board. . .

BEWARE NOOB QUESTION: Since I can't see anyone's answer here, what are you doing with the TIM and PAds under the HS? Are you replacing the TIM? Are you taking off the pads? Are you you just adding new screws for better contact?
I think I'm going to replace the TIM with some MX2 I just got, but I'm wondering about the pads. BTW, my pads look like that one in ace-a-rues' 'bad contact' picture.

    I have these:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ATI-Silencer-3-1...QQcmdZViewItem

but I doubt I'll use them since my pwm temps seem fine.

I'll send you just enough of these for free for the pwm if you test them out and tell me if they are too thick and reduce temps effectively or not: http://cgi.ebay.com/Thermal-Pads-for...QQcmdZViewItem

    how did you flash?

do you have a different set of memory to try just in case the memory is the problem?...if not, take it down to one stick and then try.

here is a link, which was posted here in this thread, where you can buy online an IP35 Pro bios chip from abit.

I had tried 4x1gb but found that one stick was defective. While it was in RMA, I purchased the 2x2gb G.Skill 5-5-5-15 DDR2-1000 for $189 from Newegg. Much better choice since any board will always like 2 sticks more than 4. I'd jump on the 2x2gb since the speeds and price are damn reasonable.

it's cool, I got some pads laying around as well. Thanks for the offer though!

i already resolved the previous postcode issue by replacing new pci-e vc.
i used old pci 8bit vc before, maybe because it was obsolete

i tried the latest beta16 bios but the problem is memset 3.4beta2 is not working on it, u can adjust the settings but when u close the apps and run again, the values will return to default settings

already tried downgrading many times to official bios12 & 14 but the cpu features & other device settings has been disabled by default. no settings can be adjusted. even all my sata drive cant be enable

i flash my mobo thru HD and DOS.
now i revert back to official bios11, all the features works fine, memset works correctly.

if theres a fix or a better way to flash the latest bios please let me know
i dont use floppy to flash mobo, thats why i flashed thru HD & DOS.

    tnx
