8800GT VS. 8800 Ultra, scores out!

Today we've got more result of 8800GT. In this time we are using 8800 Ultra to compare with. The test bed is similar to yesterday's, but we've change the CPU to Quad Core Q6600. We think changing the CPU can avoid the battleneck problem the test bed may have.

    OS: Windows XP SP2
    CPU: Q6600 OC 400MHz X 9
    Mobo: NV 650i Ultra
    MEM: DDR2-800 5-5-5-15
    GPU: GeForce 8800GT (512MB 256bit)
    DRV: 167.26

    3DMark06 1280X1024 4xAA and 8x AF:

We can see the G92 only lose about 17% comparing to the 8800ultra. The result suggests that G92 series are more better then G80. If you got a 88GTS 320bit or 88GTX and want a better card, you'd better sold it and wait for G92.

according to a manufactor, we knew that 512MB 8800GT will cost you about 1,999RMB(266.2 USD). Pls keep tuned to our original post.

For some reason they have 4×AA enabled in these benchies.
I think 3dmark has it turned off by default.

    It is disabled my default.

    Still, that looks promising.
Let me turn my Q6600 up to 3.6GHz and see how much my 8800GTS scores stock.

    Nvidia Marketing Psssssh.

The 8800GT doesn't scale very well with aa and af, same will go for the RV670. However, with AA and AF off, it will destroy the Ultra in Benchies when OCed.

What about 8800GT being ~1.5x cheaper and still being to give it a tough competition even if it's overclocked vs stock comparision?

3DMark is nice and all but I'm dying to see the actual gaming benchmarks.

Although we don't know for sure yet it's been said 110W for this card which is about same I'd expect about my overclocked 7900GTO perhaps. For 65nm and NVIDIA it sounds about right though. TDP numbers spitted out for 55nm 2950Pro is 104W and XT 135W to make a comparision.

Should also provide good enough headroom for the next gen highend series don't you think if a 110W card could already do this much damage? Die-shrink still seems to be GPU market's best friend...

Since, I'm missing my Fuzion waterblock and videocard for my new build around my Maximus X38, I find those thread very confusing ...

On one hand, some says, both ATI or Nvidia, will release a mid point card
(8800gt or RV670) and you should stick with Ultra or GTX (best right now) if you want high end... but some says those new cards will be at most at par or better (if OC) ?????

Crysis is around the corner and I'm hunting all infos I can find to make a better decision... but return more confused then ever ...

Trying to soften the blow to justify that Ultra in your sig will only go so far m8.

The 8800gt WILL enrage a lot of GTX and Ultra owners when it shows up in the Xtreme 3D section here at XS...that is an inevitability, just like how the HD 2950 Pro for $249 will enrage HD 2900 XT owners.

    i think FOR GAMES , better than this 8800GT maybe its the New 8800GTS 640mb / 320-bit @ 112P

G92 and RV670 are good in 3Dmarks but im still waiting to see the performance in games with AA & AF @ 1680x1050 ( because of 256-bit ) compared to 8800GTS/GTX/Ultra & HD2900XT .

    regards

Still happy about my 8800GTX though... No matter what people say, this card is still SLOWER than the GTX/Ultras... If it oc's better, which it probably does, then good for people who get it... I've got an 8800GTX, no way I'm downgrading to get a better OC

Pfft... screw the 3d mark scores, I want to see real games, and massive resolutions.

I suspect that while the GT will keep up well at lower resolutions and or in 3d mark, but when turning to higher resolutions with all the eye candy cranked up, I bet the GTX/Ultra's pull away and widen the gap by a noticable margin.

I dont think it'll be able to hold up in the higher resolutions when compared to a 88gtx or ultra
