It would be nice to see the thread breathe a little, but my I'm at a loss.
I'm at a 1333 FSB, but if i move to 1334 the system losses stability. No matter what voltage level i set to whatever component. (1.2Vtt, vCore, SB, NB) none of it matters. To get to 1333 with 100% stability, i've set a 1.38 vCore. Runs 24/7 like that. Going to anything else and I can't finish a 32M SuperPi.
All in all, i feel thats ok- i mean, getting a $240 processor to run like the Extremely Expensive QX6800, i'm happy. I'd be ecstatic if I could get into the 3.2, 3.4 or even blow my load if i could see 3.6, or 3.8 BUt i have BAD luck with processors. ALthough, i'm not sure its not the board...... A very early run Striker Extreme. But i'm on the board for SLI - so switching to one of Intels new dang-fanlged chipsets really isn't the direction i want to go. Unless of course, two 8800GTX in SLi just doesn't have the performance gains to justify it. The driver hassles alone (Vista) make me want to ditch this PC habit anyway...........
I used linflas magic settings posted earlier in this thread and had no problems at all on the 1303 bios, have you tried them?
Does anyone know where to measure vcore with a mm on the Striker and if so could you post a pic please?

What settings did you try Khaotic? Where you not able to get 450x8 for 3.6 stable? That seems to be a solid clock on this board for pretty much all the G0 I have seen.
I am still awaiting my rma stuff, should all be here by Friday, but I work all weekend, so won't be back at it until Monday. I found all my bios chips in my mess, so if my rma has the old bios chip setup that is removable again, I will flash multi bios's on multiple chips and see what they can do.
I never tried the 1102 bios, or 1301, will try both of them, as 1303 was removed from ASUS site for a reason, may be why I had the failure on my board, dunno.

I just got this G0 Quad about 2 weeks ago. Before that, I was running a Xeon 3060 at 3.2 - 3.4 but mostly at 3.2 Then, I flashed to 1305 and the overclock stopped being stable. After reading all the bad press here about 1305, I went back to 1303. SO, if there are any remanants of 1305 still in CMOS, that could be why I'm not having the resounding success that some folks are.
I have tried to lower my multi to 8x and it won't stick. I can set it and on the reboot it shows on the POST screen, but it seems by the time we get to Windows - it's back to a 9x. I do NOT have any of the Asus overclocking software intsalled. In fact, the only thing "installed" right now as far as hardware monitors is Everest Ultimate.
My G0 is a L731A364.
I have tried to use the setting that you have posted in the beginning of this thread. I'll print them out again and try again -

I still wonder why peeps flash 1305 while there have been so many ,numerous posts that it is not working correctly for most users from the day it was released ... try to pop the battery for half a day reflash it with 1301 or 1303 and try again...

I flashed my Striker Extreme back to 1301. Flashed it once, pulled the battery for about 3 hours, then reapplied the 1301 flash again. I used the settings in your 1303 for 3.6 post and it did help me get a little further. Instead of a deadlock machine that wouldnt' POST after hitting the power button, I can POST, but Vista won't make it to the desktop. I tried more CPU volts and more NB volts. The 8 multi also looks to be 'sticking' unlike before - where i could SET an 8 multi, but it would just default back to a 9 after POST.
I went with lower memory bus to make sure my memory (OCZ Platinum) wasn't part of the problem.
I'm under the impression that certain CPU FSB / MEM BUS ratio's work better than others. Is there truth to that?
I also tried to lower the FSP down to 355 (1422) for 3.2, and that ALMOSt makes it to the desktop, but then it blue screens.

Ijust flashed back UP to 1303 and those settigns dio pretty much the same thing............
more and more i'm thinking that my bad luck on CPU acquisition is just doomed me to a life of 3.0 Ghz

no, I doubt it, 99% of the time a blue screen is related to the memory, usually would just hard lock or crash without blue screen if CPU.
Do you have any other ram you can try, or have you run a memtest on that ram at stock speed to see if it is OK, it sucks to do, as you should run memtest for 8 hours, but you might find the source of your problem.
Also if your ram is D9 based micron chips you should drop your voltage to the 1.9-2.0V range in the bios, the 680i seems to be better on lower volts with D9.
Good luck, got my RMA Striker today, soldered in bios chip, which pretty much sucks ass, only good thing is, is that MWAVE.com sent me a whole new retail box motherboard, all I shipped them was a mobo, they shipped me a brand new retail mobo, no complaints there, as no refurb, brand new. My ram will be back tomorrow, will get things fired up before I leave for work tomorrow night, but won't be able to really play with it until monday.

@Bloke, I knwo nothing of the 14xx bios, it is needed desperately though. Really wish it would come, probably will not see it this year though, my suspicion would be around penryn time.

Got my rig up and running just before I left for work, put 1301 on it, and just set it for 450x8, and set it to crunching on WCG, about the best stability test there is. Will check on it in the a.m. when I get home from work.
I tried a few x9 multi's 400 is a dead zone on 1301 also, and on 1305, tried that for like 2 boots, then got rid of it. Going to try 425 and 450 on the x9 multi when I have more time and see if I can't stabalise that.

I was playing around tonight with my DMM and Linflas's above posted settings with 1303 Bios (thanks for the settings Linflas). I go up over 70C at 450 x 8....gotta get a better HS - tuniq 120 right now - gonna try higher cfm fan later....so I haven't really tested stability for long periods of time yet. However, the point of my post is my voltage findings, not stability.
I'm on XP Pro 32-bit. I used Prime 95 v25.4 small fft's to load test. Striker extreme bought in Feb this year - says on board "pcb made in Taiwan" but, sticker on a pci slot says made in China. Lapped Q6600 L726A. DMM is somewhat old - Fluke 79 series II.
First I tried at stock settings except for ram timings (used 1000 Mhz 4 4 4 12 2T and 2.125 voltage set in BIOS, and auto vcore and auto pretty much everything else. Then I tried at 355.5 x 9 with 1.45 vcore and 2.1 memory voltage set in BIOS (same timings/speed). Then I tried at 450 x 8 with 1.525 vcore and 2.1 mem voltage set in BIOS (same timings/speed). I dropped the memory voltage because of the over-voltage I found was more than I expected (I knew it overvolted, just not exactly how much.)
On a side note, quick question: Does anyone have a picture of where to measure NB and SB voltages? (I'm a total noob and not exactly an electronics guru.) Thanks.

I'm surprised to hear you say that?This board has been the MOST stable with respect to VDrop/Vdroop for me. The pencil mod worked well beyond my expectations. Before the mod I was experiencing a .08-.1 drop according to everest at load. 90% of the time my vCore doesn't fluctuate. When it does it is a +.02 under load.
The readings below are from my 24/7 gaming settings. The excel file is from the everest log representing about an hour of gaming. The other is from the OCCT stability test.
I'm sure the pencil mod will fix your situation.

Well what's the most stable bios to use with corsair dominator c4d ram?
I went out of town for a marathon this weekend and when I turned on the PC the LED's flashed for a second, went out and blam, CPU INIT. Tried all the old tricks of getting it to boot and nothing.
I figure I'll just shell out the $25 and have ASUS send me a new BIOS chip.

Most importatant voltage for stability of Quad on Striker is SB Voltage and HT Votage ... others i have on Auto always ... and my new Quad is on 3500MHz now ... higher FSB testing in progress ...
