Striker pwns EVGA with Q6600 G0

OK - I fired up the 3.3 memtest and tested at both 1333/800 and 1066/800 (default) and both tests puked all over itself. So i went to the OCZ website and put in the suggeted settings for my motherboard. They included settings to adjust in the Advanced Settings portion - taking away auto and putting in (6/22/6/10/2/10/38/1.75ns) Not sure if this will reduce my memory bandwidth to a garden hose, but after that I can pass Memtest - at least a LOT futher and longer than before. I have NOT done an 8 hour grind yet.

BUT- trying to incorporate those settings mixed with settings in the thread for various clock speeds still leads to blue screens. I'll set up the OC and see if it passes memtest, but my first attempt at 1422/799 did fine with Memtest but not with windows.

So - - i'm at a crossroads. Get a new mobo such as an Intel 38 and run just ONE card in hopes of a higher overclock, or continue using 2x 8800GTX in SLI........

hate to say this, but OCZ ram has not been good to me, all the kits I have had over the last year I have returned.

My suggestion, grab 4GB of one of these. I use the Gskill, they are very, very good, not as much luck for me with the crucial, but I pushed the crucial harder than I have pushed the Gskill. They use the same D9's, but not sure about binning.

Price is high on them now I see, at least on the EGG

The crucial's are great priced though $59 bucks after MIR for 2GB can't complain, they are the same chips as the Gskill, assume the Gskill is better binned is all I can say.

RMA the OCZ and get what you can for them on ebay, try the settings I posted with the crucial/gskill and you should be fine. Hell you might even make a few bucks with the price of that crucial right now

Yeah, it booted to windows. Probably could pass load test too....but I'm on air....tuniq 120....CPU went up over 70C measured with Coretemp .95. I got scared and stopped it and clocked it slower.

I've got a hopefully better cooler on the way. So we'll see

I think I'm gonna put my E6600 back on the Striker and get a p35 board for the quad.

Really? 70C @ load, thought the tuniq was a really good air cooler, never had one myself though.

Hope the new cooler treats you better.
