@Magic Chief,
Have you set the memory timings ( and the subtimings ).
Have you checked your RAM with memtest86+ for errors ?
List your settings so we can have a look dude [ don't know if you've posted any info about your problem in the previous pages, so let me know if you've done that ]

Things I have found running some quals on this board.
bios 16:
TRAS needs to be higher than you usually run it. DFI LP P35 likes 14 this board likes 17. So 1150 flex 5-5-5-15 try 5-5-5-17
TRFC 42 is the key, if the SPD is tighter manually set to 42 and test again.
NB voltage needs to be 1.36 for 4GB at 1100, HEAT is a huge issue as you know.
Not got to tweaking for max speed yet this was just JSP tests but the TRAS and TREF settings were most important

Tony, what kind of issues do tighter settings on these cause? I have had a lot of shutdown issues trying to run above 3.4 and raising the voltages seem to make it worse. I changed psu's and have just gotten a different mb back from rma. Not tested much except that I still have the shutdown issues above 3.4 when trying to run Prime. Memory is in my sig and timings have been set to 5.5.5.15 with the rest on auto.

I have been posting about this problem since for 2 months. Here are some background information. Sorry if it doesn't flow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have another problem that may be the root of all my problems. I can't pass any super pi calculations without getting a error message. It will run for a couple seconds then I will either get the "Not Convergent in SQR05" or "Not Exact in Round". I am running at stock speeds on memory and cpu. I am also supplying the recommended voltages and timings.
--------
Hmm well I have a problem. My system is really unstable. I just got a new board and memory back from RMA and still have the same problem. My memory tested out fine on Memtest. My hard drives tested out on Seagate tools and chkdsk, I even bought a new drive to see if that was the problem. Power supply is fine. Video card is fine. Samsung DVD-RW SH-S203B is new. I can't install xp x64 but I can install x32. The main problem is my downloads are corrupt, I can't download windows updates, I can't install java, flash, office 2007, adobe acrobat or any other program and most of all it has trouble installing chipset drivers, realtek sound/nic drivers, video drivers, etc. System is really unstable.
Mem 2.2v 5-5-5-15 2T Stock; New
CPU: 1.25v Stock
Video Card: Stock
DVD-RW: New but still had problem with multiple ATA/SATA drives
Hard Drives: Seagate 400GB and new WD 160GB SATA; IDE mode in bios
MB: Beta 12 bo2 bios, I uped my ICH vcores 1.12 and 1.60. Set to stock for now.
I have zero filled the drives, used one stick of memory in slot 4, updated bios ohh and installed windows 50+ times. Xp x64 fails to copy files during installation and vista x32 gets bsod error. Xp x32 installs but i can't do anything. Used UBCD utilities and still not luck. It can't be the board or ram because they are both new. All help will be greatly appreciated.
I uped the vcore from 1.25v to 1.28; still got errors. Then I upped it to 1.30v; still errors. Memory is at 5-5-5-15 2.2v. It checks out ok with memtest through all the tests over 6 hours, and it also passed 62 tests of #5 test before I stopped it.
if your memory is erroring it could cause instant shutdown...seen it on these P35 boards a few times.
I can memtest fine with TRAS and TRFC tighter, hammering in windows is what pushed me to search why things were failing...its also more prominent in Vista.
Just try TRFC at 42 and relaxing TRAS to 17 and see if it helps, get a fan on the NB also and keep it cool.
for those with 1.8ns Micron try 6-6-6-18 timings with TRFC 42 or higher and see if that helps get 1100+
Uguru temp the last time was 53c and CoreTemp is always about 6-7 above that. PMW temps are wild on the new board as it is indeed in need of Ace's mod. I tried it without the mod to see what it did. But it never got a chance to get too hot before the shutdown. After going to 3.2 (400x8) I started Priming it and the PMW jumped to 102c after about 10 minutes. I decided to see what happened and I left it running to see when it would crap out. 7 hours later I shut down Prime and it was still at 102c with no errors. I wonder if we are being too conservative in what we consider too high for the PMW temps. I would love to be at home to test Tont's settings but it will be 10 days before I get back. I have also wondered if because mt Quad has such a low vid, 1.2125, that maybe I need to explore at much lower vcore than what most are using. I know high vcore does not work. I have tried it on 2 boards now and 3 different psu's, an OCZ Powerstream 520, a PCP&C 850, and now the Corsair 620 (didn't like the noise of the PCP&C).
What is "TM", I am drawing a blank as to wht you mean.
Jumping on the p35 train and the abit ip35-E cargoholder.
Have read some nice things about these cards so it be good to test one on my old cpu until i can put a new one in there.
my suggestion would put the puter into a minimum hardware configuration...one drive, one memory stick (swap them out to ensure one stick is not bad), one video card (or a different kind) to eliminate as many variables as you can...run your benches...if they complete, start adding only one piece back at a time...if you still get failures, either consider a board or PSU replacement.
I've got a P35 Pro MB arriving in a couple of days. I plan to do the heatpipe mod, but first I need to be sure I won't have to RMA it right away.
How thoroughly should I test it before doing the mod? Is it enough to just install minimal parts and see if it boots, or should I do the full windoz install, update bios and all drivers, full setup with mild OC, etc.?
thanks for the info....i needed as i was thinking of buying this mobo...
Ben, I would take a look @ the board and see if the heatpipe's on there straight. If yes, I'd go ahead and install windows w/ stock clocks, load up orthos blend and make sure the heatpipes get warm/hot. If they do, you're good to go. If not, maybe you'll need to reapply paste/throw screws on there.
2 days ago, i switched from a Gigabyte P35 DS4 to a IP35 Pro, for my 2nd gaming rig. First impressions quite good. Much better behavior when oc'ed than DS4.
I had a long break from abit and this comeback is pretty nice...
Currently running with 11 bios, a 6750 @ 3600mhz and SuperTalent PC8000 (4-5-4-15) @ 1080mhz 4-4-4-15.
Couldn't agree with u more, Tony.
For the past week i've been playing with 2 P35 boards (DS4, IP35) and 6 different mems. What u're saying is totally true and it doesn't just apply to IP35.
My board is soon to received the heatpipe mod as my PWM with a Q6600 at 3.0ghz is almost 90! after 10 minutes of Prime95. No, my voltages are not crazy high either. Vcore at 1.45 and most other voltages just 2 selections above stock.
I can't wait to get my 40mm fans and AS5 on these heatpipes.
Just a quick question for initial setup. Will this board boot with 2gig ballistrix installed.
Or do i need to run 1 stick, change the voltage, then drop in the next one?
