Actually all 24" monitors were originally 8-bit from the beginning. Its only recently that they started bringing more affordable 6-bit 24" monitors to market.

A good monitor will have scaling options. These let you decide if you want the image enlarged to fill the screen or keep it 1:1.

Think ill wait for OLED based LCD monitors to come out... looking forward to Samsungs new HD-LCDs to drop in price then I will probably pick up one of those as well.

went to the store that is selling this for $299 and no one seems interested. Weird...normally, this deal wouldn't last this long. Maybe, ppl know something I don't.
Is it the lack of height adjustment?
    Tilt is good?
    Skin tone is excellent.
    Anyone have this LCD?

    Wait a minute, a 24" panel for $299? That isn't a TN panel?

    What's wrong with it?

that's what I said initially and how come all these unopened box are just laying there on a Wednesday when the ad came on Mon. Normally all of these should have been gone.
    Negatives:
    No USB ports
    No speakers
    No HDMI connection
    No height/swivel adjustment

    compensation:
    my pc has extra USB
    I have 5.1 Logitech speakers
I dont have anything that necessitates HDMI
my chairs eye level with any monitor.

My gut tells me to get it, but I just got this feeling Dell will sell their 24" at deep discount on Black Friday

    I'm so confuse

Input lag...now sure what that means is it only game related or does there like video/audio not sync when watching DVDs....

hey i dont know really what it means either ..lol

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Input_lag

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi2OE6hSh00

it may not even be noticeable...but i read a user review of the acer 26" and the USER said it was noticeable.....but again i dont know if it is a big deal or not....

you're not the only one who wants a 24" lcd at a good price

    http://weknow.to/forums/comments.php?DiscussionID=1416

i have also heard users whinging about input lag in dell 2405 and 2407....i have no firm data/numbers...but lag times can be 3-4 fps more or less. (up to 60ms i have read) & ive read that input lag is generally more with 24"+ panels...but that may be rumour.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/displa...LCD-Monitor/p1 - acer 24"...only vga d-sub but it is now available with dvi-d so at least that is a bit better.

Input lag largely depends on the mouse being used.

wow, that's a lot of useful information
I should have checked if there is DVI connection

I did see Dell's 24 and it did had a lot of extras like multimedia readers and extra USB slots.

I guess I'll keep an eye on Dell's 24 on BlackFriday...where is that BF site again?

dont know anything re bf...but the 2407 is still a fair bit more expensive than the 24" acer. if the acer has dvi it's tempting for the relatively low price imo.

Right, but they have reached a level that is definetely competent to take on CRT's in many areas. Good LCD's today have no problem with viewing angles unless you are playing with your monitor turned sideways, but who does that?

Besides, CRT's give some people headaches due to the constant refreshing of the screen. Some people use LCD's for the very fact that they are much easier on the eyes.

For those who have the LG L245/L246 24" monitors, do you have any problems seeing dark scenes? Is the image washed out or is it still clear? I am talking dark scenes only, such as those that do not have much light coming through from the monitor itself.

Also is the glossy coating on the screen ever a problem? Thanks.

So, SoulBurner, what do YOU recommend? I'm looking for a 24" also, and I use a DA mouse. Primarily will use this for gaming and stuff. I was looking at the Samsung 245BW, and that looked nice. I want something that will give me a lot of control over the rotation of the whole panel too. Budget you ask? Up to 650.. Before that, I was definitely looking at the Dell 2407WFP-HC, but saw all the problems including ghosting.

So, any recommendations that won't break the bank?
