    [updated]Nvidia 780i SLI got reviewed

    some of the test reasult:

Dont think this is a normal 680i SLI! we can see from the pic, through we cant sure what is this but in the layout something changed. a PCIe X1 slot dispaaeared, Debug LED change its directions, Clear BIOS Jumper changed, and 4pin D connecter becide the memory slot also disappeared.

We dont know if Nvidia want to make a new 680i SLI mobo, but in this time of period (they are going to relaese 780i shortly!) ,this is really strange.

We finally got the mobo. but Justin, sorry to make you disapponted: the board is 780i SLI, but the chipset is only a 680i plus a BR04!

the chip in the lower part is BR04. it is notthing but a bridge chip to enable PCIe Gen2 for the mobo. The bigger one is a 680i.

here is the full layout, compare to a 680i SLI, only slight differences:

we will have full test to check the mobo, pls keep tuned.

The only thing I can think is a late development working or a cheap solution as James mentioned on the previous post. It is not huge anyway, mod here and there, it's done, release, sell it, end.

GOOD GOD that is a huge heatsink. While I dont mind having a nice HS for my motherboard, I prefer adding ones out of caution not neccessity. If nVidia is having that much trouble keeping their TDP under control the quality of the board itself surely cant be on the same level as Intel's.

Hmm all 3 pci-x lanes are black this time around... if the 780i really does offer 3-way SLI, that might hint at it (no different colors that suggest non x16 lanes)

Looks WAY to much like the EVGA boards...........the on board power/reset, Sata Connections, heat sinks on the MOSFETS.

It's just a reference board, they're not going to bother sprinking solid caps everywhere.

That's up to the end mfger's.

That sucks. Cooling the chipset and the adapter chip is going to be a pain; no mounts for a water block, and it's a second chip very close to the bridge itself. Lame shortcut.

A new nVIDIA chipset to ignore.

Oh please Intel, buy nVIDIA and let us make SLI with Intel chipsets!!
