The intake fan is at ~1200 and output fan at ~1500 rpm an is taking out the heat much faster.

i meant fan/s the rear fan on the cooler will be fine at sucking and expelling the heat out of the case.

Well, ATi stock cooler wen't all the way up to 95°C (and it was stable ) on stock speed and volts. With Volcano 12 the highest logged temperature was 67°C with GPU overclocked (touching this copper cooler under full load is not a pleasant experience ). As for the GDDR chips - before they were frying at about 65°C, not they never pass 39-40°C, even with voltage raised.

But still there is a room for improvement. It's hard to cool X1950XT with just pure copper, even with 0.9kg of it. Even the watercooling sucked on this card - with EK-NWA waterblock, a special loop with copper rad, dual 100CFM Delta's the temperatures went all the way up to 45°C (overclocked, but still), with fans on 5V the temperatures were as high as 52-53°C. I'll definitely invest into Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 (25€ in my country) and equip it with some 2x120mm fans (cooler measures 140x215mm, almost as big as CM Gemin II). Heatpipes are the way to go, they can conduct heat as good as 1500-times better than pure copper.

A hot card, no doubt about it.

That heatpipe mod is sick, how'd you do it? Temps improve?

Next I suggest you replace that stock X1900 cooler

    Yeah heaps.
Before the mod, 2 seconds with finger on n/b would burn, now it feels ambient even under full load for long period.

What exact degrees invovled im not sure, but its set and forget type of mod you just sit back and enjoy stability.

    Edit, thanks chaps.
Its an old heatpipe from a vga cooler.
SparkyJJO, yeah its quite damn noisey that stock ati fan, looking at upgrade(2900) soon, but was considering heatpipes for it too.

oh from a vga.... hmm zalman maybe? How'd you bend it without it kinking? Did you just drill the hole in the heatsink and stick it in there or is it attached somehow?

Yeah Zalman, bending is easier than looks, its quite bendy hehe.
The BT only needed a screw removed which supply pilot hole the same size as heatpipe. Then drilled all the way through each fin, nice tight fit ensures better heatflow.

Here is some more mod which has been modded again hehe.

    Now...
