simple comment:

AMD 4x4: bad marketing specially because they were always talking about native quadcore and naging about mcm from Intel, even worse because Nvidia screwed it with there power hungry chipset not to mention the power hunger of the k8 before revision F3. the pricedrop made it much more interesting.

Intel skulltray: Trying to make something that has no market just because the competitor had "something", destroyed all possibilities for buying this due to the FBdimm and the worse scaling on multicore-multisocket.

at the end 790 chipset + socket F k10 might be the best choice. Power consumption ok and no need of fbdimm. we'll see end of the year.

and for the clueless and stay at you're desktop. just check my sig what i am working on. so i do have an idea what is going on in the cpu world.
