    I will see.

I have to get a new clutch for my car and some one stole a few parts from it so I have to get those replaced, and on top of that this is the second motherboard I have bought for this computer in the past month so we will just have to see.

Believe what you want man. I had an Opty 165 @ 3.0 (1.5v), 8800GTX clocked to 621/1566/1026, five or six fans, HDD, two optical drives, and water pump running on a 535w Enermax PSU.. and it ran damn well. And oh gee, look at the price

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103512

And AMD requires power to, this is my fourth (4th) PSU! And finally... with a peak power of 44amps everything is stable! And that at only 1.45V!!! So saying that AMD DONT require power is plain and simple crap
Um.. congratulations? I would expect it to be stable with that PSU.. I would also expect it to be stable with any good 400+ watt power supply. I don't know what the hell is wrong with people overestimating how much power their rig needs, seriously it probably pulls 250-300 watts at load

    Quit spreading BS

edit: Anything off of this list is fine.

I trust this man's opinions on power supplies more than anyone else's.

The Amperage is only 18 on that PSU... Are you sure it would be able to stand up to the task?

it's 18A x 2, total current output of 34A on the 12v rails. I'm positive it would be able to make it, I took a 165 to 3.3 on this one That was when I had an X1900XT, but still

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=101169

edit: When I say I'm positive it would be able to make it, I mean that the PSU is good enough, I still think that your CPU won't hit 3.5GHz.

That Enermax looks very similar to the cooltek 500w, I would go for it if Repoman says it is ok. Does it makes much noise Repo? It's what I said earlier in this thread; the prices are way different than here in Norway.

    So frys outpost had a sell on a 500W, 12v1 18a 12v2 18a PSU for $8 or so. I ordered it.

Should be in soon and that means I can probably at least make 2.4 with my current BIOS settings.

    ekk I am excited :]

    WOAH WOAH WOAH.

you are using clockgen to OC??? And your mobo says your vcore is on auto???

I took one of these to 2.5 on a horrible TForce biostar board. Dig into the BIOS, and stop using clockgen IMMEDIATELY. Manually adjust everything. The HT voltage must be raised also, 1.4-1.5 volts. Also your HT ratio must be changed too. I really hope I am totally wrong, but I have been reading way to much about this clockgen stuff.
For the record I am not sick, nor am I a gamer, nor am I a sick gamer. That name just sounds really cool to me but dont put me under that stereotype at all.

nevermind... addicted to COD4 and Free Online Games baby!

    bro
idk where you got vcore was on auto? I have it set to 1.550v and with my new PSU (yes it finally came in!) I am getting a reading of 1.48 (which is good enough I guess...)
    amyways
I am at 3.27 before I freeze (cause I tried to go to 3.31 from 3.27, which didn't work too well aha)

    Ccb8f-0720xpmw ....3.5 Air....

Also i removed my IHS on my 5600+ that was running @3.3ghz/lapped same cooler as my 6000+....I dint know the I H S was soldered on at the time. So now i use it to show people what a wafer looks like.R.I.P

    This is with a BigTyphoon with a 110cfm fan and Two 2x1gig Patriot 6400ELK@988mhz 5-5-5-12 2.2v on a ASUS M2N32 Wifi DeLuXe and 8800GTS 320mb.

I am getting a ThermalRight 120Extreame to see how much more i can go before i move to water . For now 3.5 on a BigTy lapped Hs/IHS im pretty happy and the 6000+ is only $169.00 NOW!!!! i paid $220 for mine a few weeks ago dangit if i only waited 2more weeks lol.

I have researched this particular stepping and it is the Most recent you can get! CCB8F-0720XPMW .

I checked over 30 chips @Fry's and 24 @Microcenter for stepping numbers that is the most recent i have found from new shipments in Santa Clara ,Sanjose and it is very Oc friendly. My buddy is @3.7 with water on same stepping and he has no chiller! If you keep these things at decent temp they run like crazy.

One last thing these chips like to use TRC of 23 or 24 for high Overclocks and tight timing. The memory controlers tend to do better when TRC is above 21 but not more than 25! I have tested this on my 5600+ and now my 6000+ Also the memory controler also gets real crummy with heat, this holds the chips back the most . So if ya keep it cool these will do 3.6 easy and more with water.

I <3 my 3800+ because it is just as fast as some other 939's and OCs a lot higher than some of them

Hey i wasnt knocking the 3800+ your 939 rocks! I just listed a what i went thru geting to 3.5 with my AM2 setup. Its a very rough road to Oc some chips . I still have a 754 Msi Neo mobo with a 3200+ newcastale @2.7 on air 1.72vcore. I skipped 939 when going 754 to AM2 If i had gone 939 to begin with i probally would of not swapped to Am2 as soon as i did.

Ok so what brand Heatsink is that in the screenshot that you are using ? I cant remeber if Toledos have I H S cap, if so can you lap it or remove it? I know 90mn chips can run way cooler with out it and most older ones arnt soldered . I believe a ThermalRight Extream would be the best bet if going for 3.5ghz .With a good lapping/1 or 2 110cfm fans would put you closer to your goal !

Your current Heatsink is nice 3 Upipe design but a ThermalRight is Six U pipes that act like Twelve and will keep the Cpu From topping out early from the HEat cieling even @1.65-1.70vcore. The SanDiego 90mn Single Cores can take a whopping 1.8 with out destruction with extream Air! The Toledo is a better stepping and Batch than a Sandiego by far. I even have pumped 1.7 thru this 6000+ to see what the Heat Cieling was and it still idled @36c with my crap HS/cooler@3.5Ghz. But it takes a real good HS/cooler to keep it from topping 65c @1.7. If your going to go for the Highest possiable goal Invest in the best Thermal Solution for Air .

I lapped a friends ThermalRight Extream for him and we tested it on my 5600+ before i broke my 5600+I H S
I have since ordered one for my self . Hopefully i will have it sometime this week so i can go for 3.6ghz with my 6000+.

5600+@3.3ghz @1.55vcore and/ Lapped /ThermalRight Extream120 /lapped the I H S / no fans installed ,A dot of AS5 then a gental twist to seat resulted in a 30c Idle and 59c load ,simply amazing cooling . With one 110cfm fan it went to 24c idle and 49c load @3.3ghz!My Lapped BigTyphoon dosnt even come close!

http://www.svc.com/ultra-120-extreme.html $55.00 and can be used to cool the Hottest Cpu's to date with no Fans

IHS is still on and I am using some Rosewill heatsink right now.

The temps are FINE as they are I mean I am idle at like 32-34c at 1.550v and 3.27GHz so it's fine.

wow nice job on the 754
    the AM2 OC soooo nice :}

If your like me, i hate to spend money if ive already spent it once before The RosWill is actually kinda midrange . Honestly if you buy anything for that Pc to better your Oc i would get a ThermalRight hands down. Cooling is the key , Even with my good stepping I thought the Big typhoon would be able to cool my Oc on the 6000+ up to 3.6ghz,I was wrong. The good thing i can use the bigTy on my brothers Pc That was $60 bucks down the tube I know im not the only who has thought "Ah this Heatsink is good enuff ,for what i wasnt doing yet"!

Youll get there , just spend wisely and ive made my share of mistakes 5600+IHS unremovable but it came off

but yeah I mean my temps are fine, it's just a matter of getting to the right spot with the right amount of voltage and right settings.
