t800's small, cased, daily cascade ;-) | WORKLOG

Some mounths ago t800 ask me about unit to use it daily. First we had thought about single-stage, we fast we have decided that performance won't be as good as t800 want and with big rotary compressor it'll be bit noisy ...so we decided to built small cascade, in metal case, using 2* 1/2 HP compressors . Goal is -60-70*C@200W .

Specs :

compressors: ASPERA NE2134GK 12ccm 1/2HP x2
evap: steeper evap 40 mm tall
XV: captube 0.8 mm/ captube 0.8 mm
HX: plate HX , 12 plates
condenser: 1.9kW + 230mm fan + 5W motor
refrigerants : R507/R23
oilseparator : HENRY S-5181
safety : RANCO cut-off with manual reset
case : metal case, 55 x 37 x 36 cm, silver paint
others: SLHX on 1st stage, small LCD HX's out temperature display, bitums sound insulation inside case, two 120 mm fans on the back of case + sunbeam CCFL red grills on them











On that photos case in only with layer of premier, no that's not silver finish .

Later I've changed pipes configuration a bit, finally oilsep is before desuperheater .








I plan to make electric wirings during some next days (maybe even today ?) .

I'm waiting for evap too .

Yes, why not ?

That's like 700-800watt/h of electricity added to the bill. Think about the environtment aswell, boys. You could run three pretty highend PC's with that much of power.

Small SS (1/5 to 1/3HP) for 24/7 is quite enough.

Hehe guys..cascade comes my gaming computer which i'm using something like 12/7 max. Altought i could run it 24/7, but there's no need that...i have other comp for that

Well i don't need luck, because i have already tested what kind insulation system will require to keep condesation away.

For You - yes, but not for all . Owner of this unit have already at home one cascade for benches, but now He want to have sth "lighter" for daily using, but -50*C is too warm for Him .

And that's it ..it'll be "light" cascade, using ordinary, not very strong compressors, and R23 gas .

Great looking unit piotres as allways, will be interesting to see how well this performs under 24/7 conditions, but get some sleeving or copex/spiral rap on them cables, i think that with the vibration of this unit the condenser could easy cut though the main power cables, at the best it will just short out but if the metal becomes live it could kill, so please protect the cables from damage and save life's

I bet even after 20 years of it's work cables insulation near condensor will be looking just like new . Those hermetic compressors don't produce much vibrations, there aren't rotaries . And insulation on high quality wires are thick and hard to damage .

Those cascade with that compressors doesn't eat much more power than one SS with 1HP rotary, maybe even same/less .

Only -60-70*C@200W. It's owner's need . So I'll use R23 to make temperature warm, not R1150 . With R1150 I bet exactly same setup like this can make sth like -90*C@200W, maybe even colder .
With R23 I bet I'll be only around -65-75*C@200W .

Yes I make custom cases in company . I don't plan to make any bench breaks in near future, nobody ask me about that till now .

Any trick , just simple connections, really . OK I'll show pic tomorrow .

Nothing special, just 40mm tall steeper with 3 mm channels . Yep, Cryostar is SUPERB .

I don't really think that's a trick. Look carefully at the 9th picture down.

It looks to me as though the oil return has just been brazed straight to the service port of the compressor with a tee.
