Alright you guys, those of you with Micron D9 memory, let's see some DRAM settings for this board! I'm trying to run on the 667 divider with the RAM at 1000Mhz+ and I have FireStix PC2-6400 in it. I was able to get the memory stable at that speed but I had to set Enhance Data Transmitting and Enhance Addressing to Normal instead of Fast. I left most of the other subtimings on Auto because they didn't like the settings I tried from the guide on dficlub. I'll try fooling with them some more later.

What are you trying for vmch? You might need more. Sorry I can't help out more until I get my bios again (thanks Nemesis!!). But from what I remember, the dfi seems to do a better job reading spd than my p5b did, and also is a whole lot looser, so I can't imagine auto being that bad. Post a screenshot of memset when you have enhance on normal.

The board is not optimized for 667. It requires considerable voltage for both the ram and North Bridge.

I've not had much success running dividers on this board. It seems tweaked for 1:1 operation. The highest I can run 3D stable is 475 X 8 or 515 X 7. All my memory is micron d9 gmh and one kit of old school fatbodies. I run my timmings pretty tight though with the d9. I also have not increased any voltages other than the cpu & vdimm to 2.25v. My 1st board is good up to 505FSB 1:1 @ 1.25 on the NB.

Most of my settings are on Auto except for the main timings and tRFC. The Enhance settings are both set to to Normal and I set both of the DRAM modes to Mode 2. vDIMM is 2.2v and NB is set to 1.45v.

hmm, have you tried 7x500 and then 7x515? then you'd be able to just run 1:1

I'm trying that now and I even adjusted the subtimings quite a bit looser than what The Nenemis has but it keeps locking up in Orthos after a few minutes.

Well the TT Mini Typhoon does not fit on this mobo. 1st off it flex the board way too much, 2nd it dented the top of a cap when I was started to push in the last pin. Took it off & put on my Freezer 7.

Other wise the board is running great, no probs. E6300 @ 515fsb orthos stable, Throwing BOINC on it today & that will be the real test.

Yes, but using the 4:5 divider requires a significant amount more nb voltage. Active cooling is also necessary as it heated up very quickly.

anyone measure temps on mosfets? I've found that the mosfet heatsinks performance pc's sells aren't that good of a fit as the pll heatsinks. But I don't have enough of those, and don't want to get more until my next order of something else because of shipping expenses. Would it be worthwhile to get more and use arctic silver adhesive to put them on? I figure since it's more than just a 3 phase unit, that the load shouldn't be as great and they won't get as hot, but I could be wrong. I did notice dfi implemented holes for some sort of mosfet solution, but doesn't include any with the board. If I could get a larger two piece unit that would work well for cheap, that might be better off. The hr09 doesn't appeal to me that much for the price it sells for.

You've got D9GKX based ram. 1:1 overclocking with tight timmings with where it's at for you. The boards require no voltage increase to hit 500FSB other the cpu & ram. You won't even need to increase you ram by much, if at all. If you can keep your cpu voltage set in bios @1.47v or lower, the mosfets will hardly warm up at all.

Hmm, good to know. Thanks for the experience in testing 1.47v and finding temps. Unfortunately I need 1.48v for 3.5ghz and 1.49v for 3.6. Guess I'll see how it goes and add heatsinks as necessary

Ziddy could you post your BIOS settings for your memory at 7x515 FSB? And what voltage are you using on the NB/SB?

Alright cool . I decided to go ahead and install my other 2 gigs of FireStix so now I'm running 4x1GB FireStix PC2-6400 at 900Mhz 1:1 4-4-4-9 2.1v and working my way up from there. I'm going to order me a new PSU soon to try on this board. I think I should have enough power for this system overclocked but I may get better clocks with a better PSU. I've got a PowerStream 520w at the moment. It only has 33A on the 12v line and I haven't checked how much an 8800 GTS can pull.

wow that's pretty impressive. i've been pretty fine with 2gb of firestix but have another 2 sitting here. don't know if i really need it, except for the rare photoshop sessions.

Got the board. Last one at pcplanetsystems (or anywhere else I have seen for that matter).

I will try it on both e6600 and QX6700. Pretty sure the 6600 will get it though, as my QX is pretty happy on my bad axe 2.

Do you guys think there is any benefit to mounting an HR-05 on the Northbridge? I haven't ordered one yet and I don't know that it would really do much to help clocks since the stock one is pretty beefy and will probably do better after I lap it and add some AS5. NB doesn't seem to require that much voltage to reach top FSB speeds in 1:1.

Not sure but I'm about to take off the mcw30 block since I don't have the materials to get it to mount well. I will be sticking on my hr05 on there though.

If you on aircooling or have any air flowing towards the NB you shouldn't need to change it. So long as your running 1:1 most boards seem reach 500FSB @default nb voltage. Mine will do 505 @ 1.24v 32mb pi stable. I'm hooking up my Ultra ChillTEC CPU Cooler today so I hope to find the 1:1 limits of my board & cpu.

After reading through all that info I now see why at least ziddey is having a much easier time with the higher FSB speeds with the lower multi than I am. I have an E6600 and he has an E6400. The North Bridge Core Clock (NBCC) speed is calculated by the formula:

NBCC = Default Multi / Set Multi * FSB Speed

When ziddey is running 7x515 with an E6400 that has a default multi of 8x his NBCC is set to run at ~589Mhz. When I run 7x515 with an E6600 that has a default multi of 9x my NBCC is running at ~662Mhz.
