Yes, I do not have the card, that is a fact. I do know, however, that the 8600gts, which is less than half the transistors on the exact same process took over 1.7v(IIRC, may have been more) to achieve 1+ ghz on air. How hot do you think a 700 million transistor part would get at anywhere near that voltage on air?

Therefore, while it may technically be speculation, it's going by other parts on the same process. Other parts that should theoretically clock higher due to a smaller transistor count.

In end, there's no need to roll your eyes.
Well, first thing first, i never mentioned air

Second, if you base your speculation on what 8600gts can do and call it common sense, we'll just have to disagree on what common sense is, there is much more to the whole picture.

And third

hmm after seeing some 3dmark scores from Kinc and Denny, my hope has been renewed for this card. Hopefully, there will be a x2900XL at around the $300 range.

damned, high end watercooling...What do they mean with that..my next case is going to be a TT Armor with build-in wc-system,so that's not a good choice?I mean high-end WC is over-priced here in Belgium...And i'm a noob when it comes to putting a rig together,so i have to pay like a 100$ extra only for assembling the WC-system...

Hehe

Most likely that it can OC much higher than one would expect and perf scaling is WOW.

Yup. VGA on air.
Seems watercooling will bring 1ghz to the masses.
That is nice.

14k in 06 seems also really nice. at 885mhz that indicate some headroom using watercooling.

The card priced as it is, and with some headroom clocking is a winner in my book.

Key word is drivers. The last update made a HUGE difference in performance, no kidding.

You can go higher than 1/1 (GHz) even with WC.. for sure kinc will take it to the max with LN2.

I expect some WRs.

It's hard to believe that no one has leaked any SKU or pricing information on these beyond a couple of websites with crazy high pre-order prices. Is there a reliable source for pricing info?
That's the biz, sweetheart.

IDK about pre-order, obviously that would be higher. But MSRP is $399 and some OEMs are even planning on rock bottom prices that I've heard. Much below your average expectations.

And that's with Black Box.

and the first shops that receive the cards and manage to have them in stock at launch day will rip you off as usual....

i'd say wait a week after launch till more than 2-3 shops per country have them so the prices will start to get closer to reality

To compete with this highly overclocked uber part from nVidia R600 would need to be clocked around 1.2GHz... Who knows if it can...

Back on topic.
Mayby this info will be of some relevance to someone

Not that bad if manufacturer states 750-800MHz in given TDP range Thats like saying 800MHz is guaranteed on this card no matter what (even with 2x6pin power connectors, obviously blocked by graphics card BIOS).

Sorry mate, are you going to compare one with "stock & air cooling" score with another one with "LN2 extreme cooling" score?

If yes, I hope you run it like that 24/7 and don't forget to design a machin to do automatic puring LN2 to your ultra...

Yea, 2 XT is what price/performance is to be compared to 1 Ultra card.
I guess ati wins then, landslide.
Half the price, with about the same performance using one card, I guess those XT cards isnt so shabby then.

I dont know, but who want to pay double the price for essentially the same performance?
If those price levels are at launch I guess buying a card this summer is a good deal then.
Good for me, good for ati/amd.

you cant compare with the 8800GTX 64 TMU´s , the X2900 TMU´s run with higher clocks

the x1900 also had less TMUs and in complex shader intensive games they had advantage , and the ratio in R600 is even higher , with x1900 the ratio was 3:1 , now with R600 the ratio is 4:1
