AMD GPU Clock Tool - Works on R600 !
Ever since R600 samples were handed out by AMD, people have been asking me for R600 support in ATITool. It's coming along nicely, but is not quite ready yet.
In the meantime you can use this nifty little tool from AMD. It can change 2D/3D clocks and lets you monitor temperatures of the card. It also works on RV610, RV630 and all previous products. It works under 2k, XP, Vista, 32-bit & 64-bit.

about overclocking the card -- do you seriously need an 8pin pcie connector?? I don't see how my 12V's 56A (total - in other words: more than enough) is going to run any different through 6pins than through 8pins.

R.I.P. Official K10 Roadmap thread![]()
Why is Fudzilla always post all the BAD things about the R600XT?
Is Fudzilla the AMD/ATI's enemy or something?
It seems to me like Nvidia maybe setting selves up for a fall even if they have a slightly faster card if all this pricing is true and ati ahas stock and they don't, even if nvidia responds to the pricing many users won't forget their greedy cash grab. That said of course for many on this forum the fastest card rules regardless.

Its simply a place to ignore completely. I dont think he is biased, he is just stupid+greedy.
Crunching for Comrades and the Common good of the People.
I have never appreciated Fuads bias towards ATi, but the insight he brought to theinquirer during his time there can't be ignored. Even though he has been a cheerleader for ATi since the onset of the R600, he has managed to include all the facts at his disposal, for good or for bad. I think the early word from his insider source/sources on the new ATi offering broke his heart.

You have a point, that really doesn't look any better than resistance.
Then again, it's the source engine... Why on earth you'd use the source engine to show new hardware I'm not quite sure, but the source engine is quite obviously outdated. Even with it's little upgrades.![]()
Personally, I'd like to see them do a few shots of CellFactor, which IIRC is a free download on may 8th, and see how that looks.![]()

:thumbsup:R600 minimal requirements pictured
Update: Works with a good 400-500W as well
As some of our readers actually didn't believe that their bellowed R600XT might need 750W or more here is some proof. AMD clearly states you need a 750W or better power supply for this hot beast. You also need an Athlon or Pentium 4 of better CPU, 512MB to work and 1024MB for optimal performance or more. You can read the original part here.
The card supports Windows XP, 2000 and Vista both 32 and 64 bit one. We still have hope that the card might work with a good 500W but this is what AMD recommends. Well, it's all here.
Update: We still stay behind the picture we posted but several sources close to AMD, partners and retailers who had the card confirmed that a single Radeon HD 2900 XT works with a good quality 450 - 500W PSU as well. One of the sources confirmed the slide we posted but said that this is actually a Crossfire Radeon HD 2900XT with Quad core system requirement. Some of our friends will test the card for us and we will let you know if it works with 500W. Stay tuned. Gibbo from Overclockers had tested his card and he said it will run with 400-500W PSU and you can read it here.

Pre order ASUS EAH2900XT/HTVDI
Radeon HD 2900 XT for 365,90
Asus distributor or a etailer leaked the specs and the pricing of the future cards. You can pre order them today for 365.90, but the shipping date is still unknown. This pretty much confirms out €399 price as some guys on this price search engines go lower then they should to get more attention.
The Suggested retail price for any Radeon HD 2900 XT card is still about €399. The Asus card is called ASUS EAH2900XT/HTVDI and it is based on a Radeon HD 2900 XT at 757MHz and 828 (1656 MHz), it has 512MB GDDR3, 2x DVI, ViVo, PCIe and it comes with Stalker.
Pre order one if you like here.

[B]ATI's R600 HDMI dongle revealed
:
OUR OWN WILY FERRET ran couple of HD2900XT stories earlier in the day, touching n the subject of HDMI dongle. This unique feature brings HDMI not just to high-end, but to the mainstream and low-end markets as well - without messing up the dual-display capability, which was a norm for first-gen cards with HDMI. We asked around some of AMD's channel partners and managed to snag a picture of the dongle that will bring HDTV connectivity to the masses.
So, without further ado, here is the adapter that is giving Graphzilla nightmares since it means the R600 can do HDCP, Daamit, in any resolution out there. Same thing goes for integrated sound.
Side by side comparsion with a classical DVI-to-D-SUB adapter that is being shipped with millions of cards today
The HDMI Dongle is a bit longer than a regular one, but it should prove a no-brainer to HTPC owners
As you can see, it looks very simple. Regardless of all the delays that have plagued AMD and ATI, we have to admit that this dongle just looks as it should – simple. We hope that it works as advertised. µ

Radeon HD 2900 voucher pictured
Call it the black box
We had a chance to get a picture of the upcoming Radeon HD 2900XT voucher. This commodity comes with Radeon HD 2900XT only and it includes a few games. Just at the 9800XT / 9600PRO times the voucher includes a code, you type a code in stream and you get these games unlocked. As soon as they are published we can play them.
The voucher will let you play the Day of defeat source game that is available now. The voucher claims that the other games simply called the black box will be available later this year via stream.
The black box includes Half Life 2 Episode two, Portal and Team fortress 2 games, whenever they got introduced. I am sure that this will boost R600XT sales and with sub $ /€400 price ATI will

Radeon HD 2900XT R600 heats up to 82 Celsius
Out of the case, Pictured
We created a lot of noise with the 100 Degrees Celsius article. You can check the original part here.
Luckily we have friends who wanted to help us out in our quest for truth. It turns out that outside of the case on a 20 degrees Celsius environment temperature Radeon HD 2900 XT will heat up to 82 Celsius.
There is a catch in 2D mode temperature will be about 58 Celsius almost all the time. In 3Dmode R600 chip heats up to average 68.4 or in worst case scenario 71.3 degrees Celsius.
In closed case the situation gets even worst so you can expect even more than 82 Degrees Celsius close to 100 degrees that we originally reported.
Here is the picture below.

Radeon HD 2900XT works at 500W, tested
€80 PSU enough for 2900XT
Our sources confirmed that the Radeon HD 2900 XT works great with a Silverstone element 500W. This PSU has two power rails and each can provide 18 Amps. So this should be enough and the card works well under these conditions.
This PSU has two separate rails for the graphic card and it is doing the job well and it can power the Core 2 Duo system at the same time.
The good news is that at least in Germany this PSU costs under €80. You can buy it here.
But for Crossfire you need 750W+.
