Update:
Got my DFI p965 today w/ an e6600 49G batch. Flash to PD411, no issues at all. First Intel build since the 1999, been with athlon since and this is by far the easiest setup I've ever had. I had more difficulty with the lame stock heat sink then anything so far. No IDE devices, SATA NEC/Sony DVD Burner w/ Raptor at first.
The board is very wierd at first. It boots up for 5 seconds then shuts off then boots up on its on 3 seconds later.
My 2GB Gskill Hz (DDR800) came up as DDR 667 @ 5-5-5-15 @ 1.9V. Quickly followed the guide on here set it at DDR 800 @ 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1V (LEFT everything Auto at windows install). Ran memtest everything was fine after 15 minutes. Reset the computer and installed windows XP in 10 minutes. Drivers installed off the CD, btw the intel chipset driver is 8.1.1.001 if anyone cares. I dont know if that is old or not.
Smart Guardian is kind of wired. My CPU and System Temperature changes rapidly. My ATX +12V is at 11.83 to 11.90 Volts (I have the Corsair 620HX) CPU-z shows my volts ranging from 1.200 to 1.248, I left my e6600 volts on auto and I dont know if there is an option in the BIOS for something like cool 'n quiet c2d were it lowers your volts when your not using the CPU.
I'm going to try a mild over clock today to see what I can get with the stock cooler. BTW what should I put on my CPU Volts ? I don't understand JPN with their +250mvzf stuff.
