Maybe you have a "hole" right at 400. How about trying 395 or 405 and seeing if that works?

If you're not going to use 2333 then I'd go for the latest version.

    Just received my BX2.

I would like to have a Northbridge cooler, but I am going to use an Ultra 120 and can't see how there would be enough room with my planned setup.

I have an Antec P-150 and think I need to point the Ultra 120 exhaust toward the rear of my case to allign with the rear case fan. Is there any other way to set this up? (I don't plan to cut any other exhaust holes in the case).

Also, I pulled the stock NB HS off to put AS5 for testing (and to keep stock for now). Did I read somewhere NOT to pull the SB HS off???

    Thanks for any advice,
    Andrew

Turn off the windows "feature" that automatically reboots on a BSOD. This way you can actually see the diagnostic info. It's in Control Panel/System

The SB TIM is supposedly really hard to remove... To the point where I think some people may damage (chip?) the SB while trying to remove it.

Thanks. I will leave the SB alone.

Anyone have any ideas on the orientation of my Ultra 120 along with any NB cooler in an Antec P-150 case?

only other thing i can suggest you try is to put a fan over the NB assuming you haven't changed it out for something else.
I have a thermalright hr-05 at the NB. A fan (120mm @ 1000rpm) which is less than 0.5 cm is sucking air from it.

You are suggesting that i keep the volt settings at 1.4vfsb and 1.6mch all the way ?

On some boards there are certain FSB speeds that just don't work, for whatever reason. They are normally referred to as FSB holes.

Hi gtj, I've actually got a script that analyzes dump files (mini or memory) and tells me which process caused the fault. It's not always helpful to look at dump files though as this time it reported FireFox as being the culprit (I'm 99% sure it is the Logitech camera driver).

Tried 395 - unstable. Tried 405-410 no boot. I need at least 1.575vcore or above to get into XP in 400X9 but orthos is unstable for even 5 secs as well as OCCT. Quite reluctant to stay at the stated vcore given the suicidal voltage.

I have the same problems as hotchoc, nothing at 400fsb and over works, i also have problems when im in the bios, it freezes a lot of the time when i change the values and Everest also likes to shut windows down when i open this prog...

Im partly stable at 370fsb, on my Gigabyte DS4 400fsb was easy to hit, im really stuck here...

But one good thing is that i can change the jumper im my sleep now..

Powerslobe is on yes everytime, as off now i am stable at 370fsb..

    1,6V MCH
    1,4V FSB
    1,4V Core
2,2V On the mems, at the timings in my tag...

These settings aint testet for the lowest amount of volts i really need, just try'd em out so i could get back to a stable system...

I've try'd everything before, i maxed out both Vcore, Vmch and Vfsb, but the further i get to 400fsb the more unstable my bios gets and it freezes, and i have to fiddle with the jumper right away...

Ill get rid of Everest to...

so you have tested a vcore of 1.5v for example?

some have reported if you do not disconnect the power cord from the psu that the voltage changes do not take

Have you reflashed or flashed a newer bios by any chance

what I would try is go into the bios and enter the optimal defaults, reboot and enter the bios...then turn it off, unplug the power cord, hit the power button to discharge any power..replug it in and boot into the maintenance mode..turn off C1E/disable EIST

disable all items you are not using..onboard sound, floppy, VT tech etc

I would set vcore to 1.5v, powerslope on
    mch 1.6
    vfsb 1.4
    vdmm 2.2v
    set fsb to 400
    266:533(ram will be at DDR800)

reboot and go from there(dont forget to reset the jumper and the initial boot may take a minute or so to post..sometimes that is so unnerving to me)

I am assuming that you memtested the memory at your seetings and they are OK?

boot OS..I would uninstall everest..turn off any AV/spyware and unplug internet for just testing purposes and see how things go

Do you think I would have any issues with the fan from the Ultra 120 blowing "north or south" compared to the preferred way of "west" toward the rear i/o plate where my exhaust fan is?

(I wonder why nobody else refers to compass directions on a mobo???)

As long as there is some way to exhaust the air blowing off of it there shouldn't be a problem, but if it just blows that air to the top of the case to be recirculated inside, it might be a problem. The east-west orientation usually allows the hot air to exhaust out the rear case fan, which is why most people put it that way.

You have an Ultra 120 with a BX2?
Are you using the "east-west" orientation?
If so, do you have an aftermarket NB cooler, and if so, which one?
I can't see how I could get anything to fit.

I have an Ultra-120 in an east-west orientation on the BX2. Any aftermarket NB cooler would have to be pretty low to clear - I have room to put a 10mm fan on top of the stock heatsink, so something about that tall would work, but I don't think any kind of heatpipe cooler would work.

Edit: My video card is in the top PCI-E slot, maybe if you went with the lower slot you could fit something.

I am assuming that you memtested the memory at your seetings and they are OK?

boot OS..I would uninstall everest..turn off any AV/spyware and unplug internet for just testing purposes and see how things go
I used the 2618 bios before i started, changed to 2692 and i had the same oc problems as i have with 2333...

I have disabled C1E, VT, XD and EIST and other applications i dont need to, i know about the watchdog thing after the 2333 bios also...

Dont have problems with the Vcore getting reset, i always check the voltage on the mems, it seems to reset after boot fealure...

As i wrote i try'd many kinds of voltage up to 1,6Vcore, 1,7 Vmch and so on, but the worst thing is still the freezing in bios i can 2 or 3 times access the bios to change the values to get it stable step by step, but at the end i have to reset it all in maintenance and i get nowhere...

Mems should be stable at DDR800, but i havnt memtested them yet, as the problems i write about above wont let come even close to 400fsb....

Last thing, my last Gigabyte DS4 i could hit 400fsb at 1,4 Vcore, it seems weird that i really need 1,5V here...

    Thanks.
Did you use glue or 2 sided tape or what to attach the fan?

Edit: My video card is in the top PCI-E slot, maybe if you went with the lower slot you could fit something.

obviously you have flashed various Bios versions....only thing other thought did you plug in the 4 pin molex near the NB..maybe this will help stablize the setup???

If that pic the Ultra 120 is mounted East to West, is there any way to mount it North to South?

I just ordered the 120 Extreme hoping to get better cooling and be able to a cooler on the NB. I thought my Tuniq was way too big and that the 120 would let me fit one. But looking at that picture it doesn't seem like it will work.

    I have a HR-05 and HR-05 SLI laying around.

    Current:

    - Abit QuadGT (BIOS 11)
    - Intel C2D E6600 (L630F020)
    - Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme
    - Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC-8500 2GB
    - XFX 7900GS Extreme
    - Western Digital Raptor X 150GB
    - Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB
    - Creative SB X-Fi XtremeMusic
    - Asus DRW-1814BLT SATA DVD-RW
    - Corsair HX620W
    - Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 Ultra
    - SilverStone TJ-07
    - Dell 2407WFP Rev. A04
    - Logitech diNovo Edge
    - Logitech MX Revolution
