It is known that CPU-Z does not show true values. The value in BIOS is quite correct, but if you use your multimeter at for example 1,40V, the you'll have around 1,408V on your multi.

finally did it folks The IHS is off and I have to use 1.475V in BIOS. At 1.45V it also ran about 20 Minutes stable, but then i opened MSN Messenger and wrote with somebody an my PC freezed and it seemed like my VGA card was broken, all weird colors and that stuff. But that's only if I use MSN weird ....

Comparing to yours; me to the left, you to the right.

It seems that even yours has lower tcasemax and tdp yours clock better... how come? I'm dazzled... revisions the same though... only main difference I can relate it to is vid, mine says 1.35, yours 1.4

Does lower multiplier makes the cpu stronger?

Can you show a picture of tcasemax please? I wonder if I can compare mine to yours, it's really rotten making a cpu that only can withstand 61C on cores... rotten I say! My 3800+ x2 did 69C and still lived... it would do 2.7 GHz rock-sock-solid 1.475V day, night - 24/7 for two years! Then I broke a pin, then I removed IHS and broke it totally for what... practicing on an IHS removal, did that first before doing it on my FX... but again, for what... not a mhz more! It can do 3 GHz, but about anything above 2.8 GHz 1.375V makes to much heat - even in roomtemp... only "window-wide-open-oc" possible... really .... rotten! Goddamn AMD on this one!

    tcase etc info doesnt matter.

I can make my VID say .8v if i want. He probably changed the VID voltage in the BIOS (startup VID and CPU VIC, different things)
TDP watt rating doesn't matter also.

Startup VID, you mean the real VID or the C&Q VID? Do anyone actually don't disable C&Q when OC'ing? I always disable that, OC or no OC, crappy that didn't work on any desktop I've ever had... only works on my laptop.

Anyway, it wasn't any good for OC, so I've sold it... it works just fine stock, attached the IHS back on without an issue as well. Will recieve an Opteron 170 tomorrow instead.

Strange... every time I go for something expencive it is something wrong with it, so maybe going with the cheaper option this time around is going to be better around... actually managed to afford my phonebill aswell with selling it and bying the new chip

All these high Voltages ... argh ..

    @ freakBYnature

sry but your FX-60 sucks I think that the CPU would do good, I saw a 3800+ 0608BPWM, that could do 3000Mhz with 1.325V.

Try to lower your memory's frequency. That often helps. maybe you have a crappy IMC.

So if it's that option you think I'm on and on about, then your wrong... setting VCORE messing up tcasemax values, now that would be something else

My VID shows as 1.35 in coretemp no matter WHAT i set in bios, so it's kind of weird it's so proven

How would I look into avoiding SATA HD issues when overclocking on a 590 reference board?

This Brisbane 1.9ghz is a sweet one, it has no problem with orthos at 2.9ghz on stock voltage, but even with a lower HTT multi (3x) it still might currupt something on restart.

The confusing thing is that it doesn't seem to mind the DDR2 400 multiplier, but if I got to the 533 that's when I get a lot more instability, I don't see why my RAM would affect the SATA drive though.

The best way to avoid this is to find your best clock... the ultimate one, the one you want to run 24/7 on.... the install windows when using that clock... afterwards? DON'T TOUCH BIOS.... Don't even think about hitting delete on boot

That's the best way to avoid corrupting your windows install

And that goes for any board... hypertransport is a crummy corrupter if played with to much!

If you don't understand from this screenie, I have no clue how to help you.

look at the THREE VID controls/options in there.

VID Startup Value: EXACTLY what A64info reports as your VID, I changed mine to 1.1v(even with cnq disabled) and thats what it reports. If you leave it on Auto you will get either 1.4v or 1.35v -depends on chip.

VID Control and VID Special control I'm sure you already know.

Yeah, understand allright, but startup VID aint an option in my bios UNLESS I set C&Q active... since this actually is a C&Q option.... VID control I have and VID Special Control I have, understand them all perfectly... What I don't understand is why you want to let it start at 1.1V with C&Q disabled and an OC'ed cpu, that seems just loco... why?

Me doing that was to prove that VID in A64Info doesn't matter unless the person has it on auto, and yet it still doesn't matter. I have a CABYE 0543 Opteron 148, 1.4v VID (auto) and it did 3ghz stable with 1.45v. Many 1.35v VID (auto) Opterons can't do that.
So basically saying that that value really cannot be used to determine a better/worse chip. It's not concrete evidence.
