How would I look into avoiding SATA HD issues when overclocking on a 590 reference board?
This Brisbane 1.9ghz is a sweet one, it has no problem with orthos at 2.9ghz on stock voltage, but even with a lower HTT multi (3x) it still might currupt something on restart.
The confusing thing is that it doesn't seem to mind the DDR2 400 multiplier, but if I got to the 533 that's when I get a lot more instability, I don't see why my RAM would affect the SATA drive though.
The best way to avoid this is to find your best clock... the ultimate one, the one you want to run 24/7 on.... the install windows when using that clock... afterwards? DON'T TOUCH BIOS.... Don't even think about hitting delete on boot![]()
That's the best way to avoid corrupting your windows install
And that goes for any board... hypertransport is a crummy corrupter if played with to much!

If you don't understand from this screenie, I have no clue how to help you.
look at the THREE VID controls/options in there.
VID Startup Value: EXACTLY what A64info reports as your VID, I changed mine to 1.1v(even with cnq disabled) and thats what it reports. If you leave it on Auto you will get either 1.4v or 1.35v -depends on chip.
VID Control and VID Special control I'm sure you already know.

Yeah, understand allright, but startup VID aint an option in my bios UNLESS I set C&Q active... since this actually is a C&Q option.... VID control I have and VID Special Control I have, understand them all perfectly... What I don't understand is why you want to let it start at 1.1V with C&Q disabled and an OC'ed cpu, that seems just loco... why?![]()

Me doing that was to prove that VID in A64Info doesn't matter unless the person has it on auto, and yet it still doesn't matter. I have a CABYE 0543 Opteron 148, 1.4v VID (auto) and it did 3ghz stable with 1.45v. Many 1.35v VID (auto) Opterons can't do that.
So basically saying that that value really cannot be used to determine a better/worse chip. It's not concrete evidence.
