I've been using the Orange Nexus fans for years now

they sure are quiet AND lot cheaper than my Papst 4412 F/2 GLL, sure they move more air, but like other Papst fans, IMO they make this same annoying hum.

    14dba? B.S.

That would make the Yate 10dba. =P

As for cooling and airflow both are pretty much the same. Same temps across the board. Yates are quieter for sure though. The Yate UVs are gorgeous too. Really nice brilliant blue.
I ordered a set of 8 of the blue LED's to see if they're better/quieter/brighter than the 5 Coolermaster one's I have facing the outside of my UFO case. I'm still reluctant to believe anything can beat these Sharkoon Golfball 2000's I have for all the internal fans I have in the case. My Scythe S-Flex were world's better than the Delta's, TT's, and others. However, the jump from S-Flex's to Golfballs were just as remarkable.

Here's hoping these LED Yates turn out well. Btw, you keep mentioning UV Yates but I can't find them anywhere. I can only find the LED versions.

Unsure if you're joking or not. Here's a link for ones in Victoria. I don't know what state you're in. There should be something similar in your state though.

Didn't notice the word UV in the description. I did purchase 8 of those earlier today.

Quoc needs to take me to lunch or something. I think I've spent over a grand just at that store in the past month.

No they aren't UV, not sure why people are calling them that. They are just blue LEDs.

Hmm guess you're right. All the other blue LED yates I've seen elsewhere have just been blue LED, no mention of UV unless I missed it. Interesting.

    I still prefer green

Yeah, we found that the fan itself is actually somewhat UV reactive--the LED's are still blue, though.

Would anyone be interested in some of Yate Loon's ball bearing (rather than sleeve bearing) 120 x 38mm fans? (just curious)

From what i have heard, ball YL are average fans at best.
They have found a sweet spot with sleeve versions, i think this is rather a good luck than some clever design.

I'm assuming the M's are just as quiet as the L's if controlled by the Rhoebus and doesn't make any weird noises.

Hmmm, could I cancel my order I placed today and get the M's instead? Do the L's I just ordered look exactly like that?

That's correct. Because the SM-12 and the SL-12 are, basically, the same fan, you can undervolt the M to match the specs of the L (assuming that you're matching RPM).

Do the L's I just ordered look exactly like that?
Yup, except that the fan blades aren't textured--they're smooth, like the rest of the fan housing. For the time being, we only have the D12SM-12's in black, though.

    Erm... well... ehh...

...Quoc decided to ship your order out before he left this evening, since he was going by the post office anyway. I guess we're a little too fast sometimes...

I agree with Maxxx, that is atrocious! If you want to provide the best customer service possible, you should sit on orders for 3-5 days so you can be absolutely sure that there won't be any buyer's remorse! Sounds like Petra's really needs to work on their customer satisfaction. I bought 4 SL's from Petra's to put in my fan panel of my Stacker 830, and just sold the case along with the fans to an employee of mine. I bought 4 SM's to replace them, and I'll be running them through a Sunbeam fan controller. I'll let you guys know how they work out. I couldn't believe my SL's, the only way I could hear them was putting my ear next to the side panel, and even then it was nothing more than a faint, low pitched wind noise. Whew, i still can't believe that package got here from Petra's in 5 days!

@ Cathar - Seems like you have tested nearly all fans with the PA's- how does thePanaflo/NMB 120mm fan (High Speed, FBA12G12H) rate?

I have a mixture of these (on the Rads @ 5V) & nexus fans (providing airflow to the case) - & I would have to give the trophy to the panaflo's for flow & noise. If my Panaflos don't tick (which they don't ) then what perceivable difference in airflow do these "Tricod Science" fans have? Would my PA.160 & PA120.2 benefit with the swap?

its almost as if Quoc himself delivers the package to your doorstep....

well maybe add 1 day processing or sitting on top of package would still be nice... esp with some uncertain buyers. the extra 24hours would be put to good use clarifying what he/she intends to buy.

Sorry I meant LED blue. The LED blues though are not 72cfm. They are 38cfm so if you're looking to move a lot of air they aren't ideal. I'm only using them at the top of the case for the outtake, so they're fine up there. No good for a rad.

I ran the Yates last night for about 3 hours at 23c ambient. Here are some temps at 72cfm with yates.

    480 rad
    8800 GTX SLI
    idle 43/39 load 50/44

    240 rad
    E6700 @ 3.3GHz
    idle 32 load 36 - average about 34-35

    Not too shabby.

    I have a PA160 in P180 case...I use a Panaflo 120x38mm L1A fan at 7v...gives a better static pressure(than YL 120mm) and at 7v ..very low noise...(turn up for load to 12v and better cooling)....I also have a M1A....much louder and I never use it

not by that much and they definitely push a lot more air. But I would recommend a fan controller anyways just to keep it quieter when needed.
