hey how do u guys save bios settings to a text files?? and display it here in the forum like what the thread starter did in his posts about how he reached 3.6GHz ....

i tried save settings to a text file in bios .. it gives me a .CMOS file .. which is useless ...

Im having major trouble with this board. It randomly freezes on booting, either at the logo screen, or just after.

My RAM seems to be the cause so i tried memtest. In slot one, it freezes. Slot 2, gives me thousands of errors. Slot 3 works fine, and slot 4 freezes.

Voltage is at 2.4v, all timings set to auto. =(

At everything stock, it fails after 7 hours Orthos

EVGA has posted an announcement regarding high end DIMMs dying on high end 680i boards. They say it isn't the chipset but the voltages going to the DIMMs. Word of warning I guess:

I had the same problem with my board. It needs some voltages to be increased, but it doesn't like it if you just increase all voltages by rule of thumb.
My board does need ~1.5V for the NB to run at 400MHz+, but only 1.30V on the 1.2V HT and ~1.45V on VCpu HTT. Vsb didn't need any increase so far, even with SLI it ran as supposed.

I was just going by the settings in the GSkill thread for this board. Weird.

Well, i stuck some active cooling on it (80mm fan) and it passed 20 MemTest Test #5 Passes, then gave me 3000+ errors on pass 21. Confused.

Before, it woulnt manage one pass =/

what unlinked settings are you using?

for some reason i found that anything with 8x appears to be much stronger than unlinked settings with 9x.

i.e. 8 x 450 is much better than 9 x 400.

i also use the gskill 8000hz's.

edit: one thing you might want to try is loosening up the subtimings a bit. the ones that are programed (at least with the 8000's) are pretty tight even for stock.

I've got all the subtimings set to what's in the G.skill thread and I'm running the ram at 1015Mhz only using around 2.2 volts even.

finally flashed to 0602 starting to push my CPU on this board, Im sitting@3.6 trying to get Orthos stable, it seems like I need more Vcore then my old board (abit aw9d-max). Anyone know what other factors in the bios will effect stability in Orthos small ffts test besides cpu vcore???

with Auto timings (which are 4-4-4-5).

And it fails after what, 2 mins of Orthos?

CPU Temp is 36*C Idle, 44*C Load
Mobo is 35*C Idle, 41*C Load

It's damn annoying

this board needs lots of vcore to get 3.6Ghz stable I need 1.51250 volts 1.47 actual. 1.2HT and the VTT play a big role in OCing this board.

My Xeon wasn't orthos stable at stock with auto voltages I had to manually set all the volts.
I used:

Vcore 1.2500
ram 2.17
1.2v HT : 1.25
NB 1.30
SB 1.50
CPU VTT 1.30

I used the bios voltage monitor to see was auto voltages were set and I matched everything up. It worked fine from there as you can see.

I get corruption/BSOD's with anything under 2.3v @ 4-4-4-5 500Mhz

if you leave it on auto, they might be too tight.

Running at less than stock speeds, yet its still not Orthos stable. Passes MemTest #5 30+ times though, and Orthos fails after about 5 seconds.

although i don't have G.skill branded memory...
using DDR2-667, GMH based mem, running at DDR 1164 Cas5 (2.175V set in BIOS), i have the following set for subtimings
(going for stability rather than bench timings ATM)

TRD 3
TRFC 32

i tested using HCI memtest, which passed 5000% before manually stopping it

i can get away with a trrd of 2 and twr at 3 for a short time, but eventually memtest will fail.
also, in my case twtr @ 6 is too tight and errors almost immediately at higher frequencies.

just spend some time testing each setting out for your individual configuration
it took me a few days messing with mem timings and voltages to get everything really stable - no crashes, bluescreens, freezes/lockups or errors since

Rounding error, result was 0.5 Expected 0.4

As for the settings, i hadn't set the sub timings so ill do that now, and try orthos.

rounding errors are the cpu. up the vcore start around 1.5 volts with this board untill you get something stable.
