I ended up at 410FSB just because my Corsair refuses to be stable at even 411. The lack of headroom for OCing must not bother Corsair since they want folks to buy the even-better memory, so I'm considering this a sad lesson about spending more than I want to to get that extra value...

Q9450 @ various settings like underclocked to 2.32Ghz until a good BIOS comes along...

I'm guessing it's the memory controller on the mobo. It died on me. The memory works like a champ on my new board but it was fubar on my P5W.

    I got some XMS2 here that will run perfectly @ 400 4-4-4-12 1.9v but won't run @ 450 5-5-5-15 2.2v

I'm pretty sure it's the board.

Meh I have been using bios 1804 for ages and i just flashed with 2004. Now my temps are all weird, it shows -14C for chipset and 64C for processor, when the coretemp shows 35C.

That makes my fan spin at full rotation... I can't revert back to 1804 damnit.

Yes, probably the B version help you a lot (apart founding the right configs for you system). The TT Toughpower is OK, but correct me if I'm wrong: 850W can only make a difference in OC if you have a lot of things connected to it.

I wonder what the 4,340 posts in this thread mean..is the P5WDH is the most popular board around here or the one users have more problems with.

Any news on that utopic BIOS that allow us to change memory settings?

wow! just finished all 175 pages and my new rig is stable thanks to this thread.

    E6600 @400x8 3.2ghz 1.37vcore
    ram 1:1 400 4-4-4-10 v2.05 gskillz pk's
all my voltages are very low since I don't run a fan on my ninja...

the feature of the board are nice...my biggest problem is heat and I bought this to run fanless I hate the fact that asus didn't cool the nb/sb well enough without aftermarket features.

anyhow thanks again and I'll post again before too long.

If you have the same XMS rev 2.1 sticks as me it probably wont clock much cos it has ProMOS chips - some will but most wont. Only early rev of XMS 6400C4 had microns - check the chip list. I unfortunately bought mine before I found this. http://ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2/ . That said they run fine at rated speed - its just the fun of overclocking them I miss!

I must be really unlucky because my XMS2 6400c4 memory has microns as the sticker on my modules says it's rev 1.1 and I can't get it to boot with FSB at 400 and manual memory timings of 4-4-4-12. Even at stock FSB speed, it doesn't work with manual memory timings of 4-4-4-12, maybe because the board has problems with the 2:3 ratio (is that correct ?)

And yes I'm setting the memory voltage to be 2.1v

    stuck in single channel

    Recently set up the Asus P5W and used WINTEC AMPX 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

Latest bios, still the motherboard posts with the memory as single channel.

    Suggestions?

    Thx, Bob
