thks mate am running on raid 1 now.

funny thing about the ide drive and ide hd.

still hangs if i load em together (i.e. one ide cable linking the hd, cdrom and ide connector together):

I---------------I-------I
ide port dvdrom ide hd

however if i were to do this:
I---------------I-------I
ide port dvdrom

or

I---------------I-------I
ide port ide hd

everything would be just fine. tried a second ide cable. same results. bx2 bug u reckon ??

Here's how it works...

MB             SLAVE  MASTER 
 I---------------I-------I

You have to make sure that both devices are jumpered according to where they are on the cable OR you have to set both devices to "Cable Select". Cable Select allows the device to automatically set itself as either slave or master depending on which cable connector is used.

So if you have...

 I---------------I-------I
ide port      dvdrom    ide hd

The you must either set the dvdrom to slave and the hd to master, or set them both to cable select.

1. Can i disable this option at BIOS to avoid seeing all the RAID splash screen:

Advanced - Peripheral - Disable Secondary Controller

2. What's with all the weird wordings that appear on the bottom right of the screen after the BIOS update(i.e. E9, 0, 94,B2, etc). Any way to get rid of em ?

Secondary SATA Controller is the Marvell (red/blue ports). OK to disable it if you're not using it.

Those are the BIOS POST codes. No way to disable.
