So the OCZ Gold 8800 are guaranteed D9GMH right? I have a set of buffalo firestix 6400, but they are in another state because I temporarily put them in another computer for a build, with the idea that they will be returned to me once they get new sticks. But I kinda want OCZ because of the support and service I know is top notch. So if these Golds are 100% D9GMH I'll just get those instead. Or do you guys suggest I keep the firestix?
*Stolen from cyburzaki on the [H] forums*
Newegg has the Geil Ultra 3-3-3-8 DDR2 800 2GB Kit for $249.99
According to Ram List it is Micron D9GCT (B6-37E) or Micron D9GMH (B6-3).
Apparently this stuff is very expensive ($400+ US) on other competing sites.
However, I cannot attest to how it performs.

Yes, they are D9GMH. However, if you're looking for high bandwidth with relaxed timings (i.e. CL5) then the OCZ PC2-8800 is your RAM, but if you're looking at not so high bandwidth with tigh timings (CL3 for PC2-800 or CL4 for PC2-1000) then the Buffalo Firestix DDR2-6400 is your RAM.

Exactly,
I'm almost positive you could run those Firestix at 5-6-6 timings at the same speed as the OCZ but who would want to?. 4-4-4 (500mhz) > 5-6-6 (1200mhz)
I'ma stick with the Stix then! Thanks you guys are the best.
Just got my 6400-1GBHZ from RMA
look what they have changed for me instead of that pair of GCT.
with a different heat spreader:
Here comes the................
BUT I can tell you GMHs with 7XXXX code goes up to 520@2.3V only
can't go futher with higher voltage even looser timings.
Have you had a chance yet to actually test the replacment modules, is that how you know they won't clock over 520 @ 2.3v or are you saying that from prior experience? If you havn't tested them yet I would give them a go, they might impress you very much! I would almost always take a kit of GMH over GCT although I'd certainly like to test each kit before I made that dicision! Good luck!

Guys what do you make of this http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=628 Jump to the conclusion. They are saying that expensive memory is worthless. I makes that 154$ patriot memory offer seem really good.
I just got my alphas lol now the reaper and the gelis are on sale. My Alphas are GMH 7xxxxx. I looked under my microscope lol and saw what they were.
does that mean they arnt going to oc well?

As long as your memory can do 1:1 with your CPU say 500X7 , then you are on the safe side because it is not holding you back but don’t go and buy slow DDR2 that wont give you enough CPU head room, after that the D9 give you the luxury to tighten your timings for a slight performance increase or even apply 2.6V while benching , after all this XS and all of us looking for performance , and for that GMH 7xxxxx just ignore it , it means nothing

Just got my FSX800D2C Buffalo firestix back from RMA and they have D9 chips. Just pull the corner of the heat speader up and saw the familiar white dot in the corner. So far they are doing 460fsb 4-4-4-12 at 2.2v. The elpida needed 2.25 and 5-5-5 to run those speeds.
