CoolIT Eliminator CPU Cooler (TEC) Review

"This is CoolIT's second Thermal Electric Cooler (TEC); the first one was the Freezone. I've video reviewed the Freezone and thought it was excellent, but I like the Eliminator even more. They've incorporated everything into one unit, which makes it easier to install than the Freezone. You can also manually adjust the fan speed to suit your needs. It's definitely a great alternative to some complicated water cooling setups. Watch the Video to find out more..."

that cooler actually looks pretty nice... an easy way to create a seperate loop for cooling your cpu and let the main h2o system cool the video card(s).

Not bad.... I just wish the tubing was longer so you could place the unit everywhere...

hmm im really tempted to switch from my Tuniq tower to this .. those seem like great temps at 1.5vcore ? crap mine e6400 at 1.44 with my tower and fan at full blast loads in the 50s

i wish they would have used a 120mm fan though .. 34db is still loud

lol i wish they had something like this for video cards lol .. i cant really watercool without serious modding in the tj09

I really like the $200.00 price tag it comes with

Sure the performance is good, but man is that thing loud!

HeavyH20 has the original CoolIT system on his CPU and he modded it to fit a 120mm fan, so many you can do the same thing on this one to tone down the noise?

Here is HeavenH2O's version of his CoolIt peltier cooling systems and from the looks of it I'd say that such a mod isn't too hard.

minus the band placement the short Lines, it looks good

I have a meeting scheduled with Coolit systems at CES, I will be sure to hit them up for a product sample. Last year they had those drink coolers that connect to USB, mine has been plugged in for a year now straight at work and still reaches same cold temp as when I set it up.

I got one for Xmas and I love it =P.

The Eliminator looks good for the price, maybe CoolIT will expand to the GPU cooling market too.

heh I actually like that product. Seems pretty good to me as I've got waaay too many usb ports to use.

at $200 it's actually not bad I'll admit. However I'm thinking about below ambient temps.

Hmm... not a bad cooler indeed. Poorly used peltiers, uberly poorly used radiator design, but not too bad- performance is good.

I dont like how it blocks half your pc, and prolly makes a toaster oven out of it on the inside, but nonetheless, its TEC And my 6300@3.5 on stock cooling is almost as cool :P

Now that the price came down I got one as well. Been too busy with work to finish the system off it's going in but did the 120mm mod in a odd kind of way, and 120x38 to boot so it should be good 24/7.

Since I'm happy with 28-30db I didn't find the stock fan loud at all at full. However with a nice 120 things should be nice. To swap out the fans you'll need a 3/32 allen wrench is all.

And of course you get a cooling unit that really does fit in a rather small amount of space. I'm actually toying with throwing it onto a 8800 just to see what it might do for the gpu

When I have more time I'll let you know. Right now it's year end accounting time.. /sigh

I reviewed the FreeZone for ClubOC, and helped out with the Eliminator review, which should be up soon. The Eliminator is basically a nicer, better, cheaper FreeZone. If anyone has questions, let me know

The eliminator is a slightly lower power version, at a more reasonable price point. I was also under the impression that a SLI based product is coming. I'm not really worried since I primarily stick with single gpu's. The holdown system is adaptable enough to mount it and I can easily find a front intake to mount it on when I move it to the gpu.

well if they do develop a unit for sli .. its gonna be tough finding a place to mount 2 of these considering how big a space they take up .. and most front intakes are blocked by hds .. maybe ill wait it out for an sli version .. cuz maybe it will be 1 whole unit for cpu and sli
