    that would be lovely
Well, it can, sort of. just click the tray icon once.

I do have another request though(probably already requested) .. an "Always on Top" option.
it would be very useful when switching load\idle on different apps.

    Core Temp vista equivilent?

    Hi all,

Sorry if this is in the wrong group but i was going through them and could not find a suitable one.

Is there any decent temp program that can be used with vista, also a fan controller would be awesome.

    Thanks everyone.

This program ROCKS...way better than asus probe and those POS softwares :P

I would really like a show temp in systray option...maybe alternate colors for each core: Core1 26c in green. Core2 26c in Yellow.

    That would be awsome.

Ok guys newish here and have a minor issue with both Core Temp and ITAT in the Core Temp gives me a "This processor does not Support DTS Readings " error and ITAT shows the wrong temps...

    I have a E6400 ES A1 revision Stock Voltage running at 8*300 2.4ghz so nothing insane 2GB A-Data DDR800 Ram Silverstone 650W PSU

and the pic tells the story really EasyTune says about 17c @ idle and about 35 under 100% load using Itat to load it up

Any ideas or is it just an issue with the ES CPU's

    Cheers

Its an early ES revision, on which the DTS wasn't working properly, if at all.
This is the reason Core Temp doesn't even start up on it.
First processors to really support this were the B0 revision.

In 0.91 the VID wasn't read correctly.
    Version 0.93 fixed that.

    P5N-E 650i sli coretemp problems?

    Hellow guys.

I just got my new rig, as an update for my old pentium d system.

    The setup is following

Asus P5N-E SLi with 650i chipset
Conroe E6600, stepping6 B2 with both box and zalman 9500 cooler.
    2gb kingston valueram pc4300
    250gb maxtor maxline3 pata133
    Raptor 36gb
    2 Inno3d 7900gs in SLI mode
    Hiper type R 580W
Raidmax sagitta chase with 120mm fan in front, 80mm in the side and 120mm behind in the chase.

I think that makes good airflow....

But coretemp shows following temperatures when cpu running stock volt and fsb.

Box cooler - 52-55c idle and 59-62c full load
Zalman - 50c idle and 55c full load.

Can that really be true ? Omg i though the new core2 was a cool cpu ?

    Hope for any help here.

sincerly Jenner from www.overclocking.dk from denmark.

A good start will be to search "a few" threads regarding *reported* temperatures for Core 2 Duo systems.
Personally I am not too impressed by the Zalman 9500, but I think this is not the issue here.
Either software related (Bios/sensors).. or more likely, a 6600 with badly mounted IHS (from factory).
I take for granted that you've mounted coolers coorectly though..

That's a problem with the DTS, nothing else. For whatever reason it doesn't like being cooled to very low temps, and just gets "stuck" reporting a certain temperature.

Hi did you find an answer to the problem as mine is doing the same, have resated the heatsink so many times now but still the same, I have a 3 deg difference between cores that is using intel stock HSF and a Noctua NH-U9 overall temps are great but it's annoying not knowing what this is.

Vista x64 or 32bit? The 32bit is just like xp in this regard, so I guess with UAC off it'll behave the same way.
