    With voltage on auto my cpu got +1.5V, wow!

    I thought it was a bug in bios.

    Guys some questions, please correct me if i'm wrong:

    Lower resistance = Higher vdimm, right? so, when i finished vdimm mod for example, then i need to set max resistance in the VR (?), but how much should i set in the bios, min value or max value o Auto? And, when i finished benchmark session can i only remove the wire attached for vdimm mod?

    Sorry guys, i complete noob in vmods.

    lower resistance = higher vdimm

    set max resistance on the POT before soldering, start lowering before aplying the mod.

    set everything but auto in bios. so you can have a reference value.

    if you have nice soldering skills, there's no problem on removing the mod whenever you want to.

    only .

    this mod overvolts a lot.

    i have 1.4 set in bios an i get 1.65 after de vdroop mod.

    before the vdrop i had tuned de vcore mod in order to have 1.4.

    the 50k pot of the vdroop mod is at 50kohms.

    should i increase resistance in the vcore mod pot in order to lower vcore ??

    That's right, set your VR to 20k before soldering, because when you have solderd it you are not able to read the correct resistance, so you will not know if your VR is @ 20k or not. Once you have done the mod boot your pc. Maximum Bios value for your RAM's is 2,1V which is not a problem for any DDR2 Rams. I use 2,1V for 24/24 settings. By doing the mod with a 10k VR you will add less then 0,1V in top of that. This means that if you set your BIOS to 2V, you will get ~2,1V on your RAMs. If you take a 20k VR the difference between actual voltage and Bios voltage is even less.
    How you set the value in value, that's something you have to decide for yourself, me puts it on 2,1V and for higher voltage I just have to tune my VR.

    You could remove the mod everytime, but is it really such a big problem to have one extra cable in your case?

    Try a 100k VR in stead of a 50k and see what happens then.
    If you don't have 100k put 2 50k VR's in serie.

    i have a 200kohm VR .

    but i really dont feel like dismounting all this stuff again.

    i tuned the vcore VR to maximum and i get a 0.02 overvolt.

    so i guess its ok like that for a week or two.

    tkx for helping.

    now i'll try to get in the 4ghz club with this cheap mobo.

    It seems my Belgian friend killed his P5B. It is still possible to meassure voltage, should be good enough to try something for VMCH don't you think persivore?

    Ok, did the mod yesterday with a 50 k VR, it works

    But I have the same experience as remorema, this mod overvolts. 1.42v in bios gives me 1.60v stable in winxp.

    Seems like my CPU wont do anymore than 3800 mhz for benching, saw another guy with the same stepping and his e6600 maxed out at around the same as mine. L626A254

    My Geil sticks can do 445 4-4-4-12 2.1v, so that is not the problem.

    I feel really stupid now, but from what point do i measure? I got the part about "connect a <10 VR between here and here" but since the only reference to a measure point was in post 3's attachments i really have no clue as to where the measure point is.

    On the Vdimm picture you can see that coil on the very left side (the big one, only half of it is on the picture). You can messure Vdimm on the leg that is not on the picture (the leg closest to the memory)

    my P5B is with Vdim mod , vdrop mod and vcore mod .


    i set Vdim to give +0.2v :

    2.0v in bios = 2.2v real /// 2.1v = 2.3v real


    vcore and vdrop are also OK , if i set 1.35v in bios ---- 1.365v in windows and 1.35 in windows FULL Load

    Since i'de like to be sure (and to avoid any further questions from others)
    fixed 50k resistor should fix any vdroop problems
    and this pic has all the correct info on vdimm?

    Thx. Gots wires on all 3 points now, just need to go out and get a multimeter + resistors now so i can build my "control panel" (one happy camper here, last time i solderd it took me 2 hours to get USB ports and a HDD led on my xbox)

    But the east wire (on the chip leg) took me 3 tries and i'm afraid it'll come off yet again. I though about using speed glue or hot glue to fix the wire in place and stop the solder joint from tearing but i cant apply it without getting at least some on the chip.

    From what i could find using hot glue should not damage a computer chip (unless you hold the gun against it that is) and speed glue seems way to agressive when applied to other plastics. But i 'de still like to be sure, so if anyone can telle me more, please do.

    Once the wire is fixed in place i'll flip the board over again and take a shot of alternative points for measure & west vdimm point (it's cleaner there).
