Disabled C1E and all that stuff (except for Microcode update or whatever it's named). Using Corsair TWIN2XP2048-6400C4, tried auto on SPD - which got set to 5-5-5-18 (at 3.2G I can login fine at 4-4-4-12). Tried increasing ram voltage to 2.15 as well.

What's the vcore "pain limit" with air cooling (40mm fan @ 1500rpm)? 1.55V?

    Week 27 E6600 limits

I have tried a couple of week 27 E6600's and got in the range of 3400MHz + or - on air with a variety of motherboards. I assume from all threads that I have read here that this is close to the limits of the chip with reasonable voltages on air.

Is it likely that someone would find a week 27 or other week that would do much better or is this about it? (not that I am in any way disappointed.) In other words, if I had opportunity to try one or two more week 27's, would there likely be more high-end to it?

What I have found is one chip (week 27) that has a good bit more capability at lower voltage, rather than one that does more with higher voltage. I am assuming that this would be desirable.

My E6600, which I am still testing, hits 3.6ghz with 1.525 vcore, but it's not stable.. I think it might be the 1401 beta bios tho which is causing issues with the mobo at 400fsb.. or I am not being agressive enough with the vcore. anyways... when I get some 12+ hour stable prime data I will post pics and such.. for now:

    CPU name: E6600
    OC: 3500mhz
    Stepping: 6 B2
    Week: L625
    Code: A404
    Vcore: 1.500v

    Cooling: Water
    Cooler brand/model: Swiftech Apogee

    Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe
    Bios Version: 1401 beta

    RAM brand: G.Skill 2gbhz 4-4-4-12
    RAM actual speed: 778mhz (1:1 fsb @ 389)
    RAM voltage: 2.05v

    additional mobo settings:
    Performance Mode: [Auto]
    PCI Express Frequency: [100]
    PCI Clock Synchronization Mode: [33.33]

    FSB Termination Voltage: [1.50V]
    MCH Chipset Voltage: [1.55V]
    ICH Chipset Voltage: [1.20V]

was going on 8 hours dual prime stable this morning before I left the house
    STILL TESTING!!

wow! 1.65v. I guess I am not being agressive enough with vcore.. I only tried up to 1.55v and 3600 was just a tad unstable.. I'll try more vcore tonight.

    E6400 L627A730

    MOBO: gigabyte DS3 (bios F3)

    COOLER: Watercooler Nexxxos xp

    ---3350mhz@ vcore default

    ---3570mhz@ 1.425v

    ---3616mhz @ 1.45v

need another mobo that run 500 FSB cause this CPU seams to be a lot of potencial

my friend with a E6400 with exactly same batch L627A730 Already run 4026Mhz Aircooled but he have a P5 deluxe

If you have a p5b-deluxe, could you lower the muli on an e6600 "retail" to 8 and set the FSB to 400 instead of 9 x 355 to reach 3.2Ghz and are their any benefits in doing so?

My goal is the reach the overclock that an e6400 has but with a e6600, or am I headed into gunfight with a spoon.

yeh you can lower the multi to x8 on a E6600 and set FSB to 400 or more and its better cause you take more benefits from your ram 1:1

    Thank you.

I am still unsure about one more thing. Will I be able to reach a higer overclock with the same Vcore if I choose to lower the muli? (IMO no)
I would just like some one with experience to tell me what they think.

This thread was stickied but it got unglued due to... probably... lack of updates. This is not to knock K.I.T.T. of course, he's doing us all a favour by having a go at this OC-DB malarky at all. The rest his daily life (life beyond XS? pffft ) stuff is probably getting in the way of more frequent updates

Probably, although my stupid Badaxe with the IDT chip can only overclock past 30% with Systool, which maxes at 400 FSB. So 3.6 Ghz tops until i get a new board or a better clockgen for IDT.

my "old" 304 is good for 460 bios (1333) or 400 to 460 1066 with systool

    E6400 temps

I'm running at cpu60c/sys55c at 3360 mhz (9x420) My sys temps used to be 45c but then I tried to check my NB heatsink and busted the plastic pins holding it on. I reattached by using artic silver thermal epoxy and then put a 50mm fan on top of it. My question: Is Sys temp same as NB temp?
