    Is it using 1.4ns ram? 'cause if it is...It's actually a speed-binned 7900gt 512mb/7950gt, rather than a down-clocked GTX.

I mean sure, when overclocking is all said and done, there would only be 100-200mhz differance in mem speed and the cores would probably end up the same, but still. You get what you pay for.

...and btw that price structure is kind of odd. The GTX is obviously that ridiculously expensive because of the better ram and will die a bitter death, but The 7900GTO/7950 are obviously just replacements for the 79GTX/GT. The GTO replaces the GTX with cost cutting by using the cheaper ram. The 7950gt replaces the 7900gt by adding 256mb. Why the GTO would be cheaper makes no sense. It would make more sense to me if the 7900gto was $350 and the 7950gt was $300 MSRP or something to that effect.

Hmm. I guess we'll have to see what happens when everything gets to market.

well with a core speed of 650 it must be 1.4 volts and maybe variable 2d/3d which would make it a downclocked gtx.
ram is most likely the new hynix being used on the 7900GS.
clocks even better than samsung by the looks of it.

A GTX uses 1.1/1.2ns ram (I forget which). The gs/gt/gto all use 1.4ns. That's the key difference of why I said that. Down-clocked to me infers using the same parts.

You're prolly right about the new Hynix, and I agree it looks to be clocking better than Samsung which seems to speed-bin the crap out of their stock.
    That is all.

    Peace and love.

Darn I was hoping for 1.0 ns GDDR3 on it

Why the hell would that have happened? On a card that has several SKU's above it with higher costs.

Also the title of this thread is misleading, as the article says the price will be between $250 and $469.

OCUK have them listed for dispatch on monday at £200 though, so its more likely to sell at the $300-350 pricepoint in the states, not $250.

Won't Last as it'll ultimately start eating into 7950GT sales.

As will I - this occurred to me today as I was getting excited to see my eVGA card next week. I will say this - the step up program has some benefits to me now.

um the only diff is the ram lattency which as far i i know you can't change (correct me if i am wrong) and the ram clock wich could easily hit 1600mhz so how could you flash it there is nothing to flash?

I will go for X1900XT for that price

I am pretty sure even the 256MB version will faster than 7900GTO

and both [PS3] RSX and [7900GTO] doesnt support HDR + AA

    look,
the X1900XT(625/1450) is faster than 7900GTX (700/1800) in all the HDR game tests

this is prolly the best buy, but i think i can wait for the G80's Geforce 7950 equivelant. My GeForce 7800GTX SLI is doing just fine.

I thought A LOT about buying a discounted X1900XT, but I knew I'd have to replace the stock cooling with a Zalman and that adds another $40 to the price. Also, they run hotter and don't exhaust any of that heat outside the case. I seriously considered a 1950XTX because ATI finally figured this issue out, but the $250 GTO is by far the best option in the short term.
