    DS3 and E6600

SO far i've read that this board can't get past 400mhz with the 4MB cache CPUs. THen i saw some posts that show high OCs on E6600, but with a 7x multi. SInce the retail chips are going to be locked has anyone had success with a E6600, E6700 on this board?

I am waffling between this board and the Asus and would like to get the DS3, but the OC'ing ability for the 4MB cache chips seems inconclusive.

he says that 440 FSB x9 was with the software , via bios was hard to push 380+ / 390 + , but thats no big deal , we use softwre

    i only need 390 FSB for conroe E6600 (3.5ghz) 24/7 until Rd600 is out , so i think DS3 its a good choice

400 with 9x is a piece of cake ive only seen 1 person who said they had troubles.

mine boots right up warm boot or cold boot at 400 FSB 9x Multi.

i got as high as 435 with a 8x multi but my ram crapped out and i already had it 1:1 which is as low as you can go with this board. which really limits things.

    Good to know that

My Ram only run around 405/410Mhz CL4-4-4-12 , thats why i said before that i only need the DS3 can run around 390/400 FSB x9 (1:1 )

It might be that the chipsets are getting too warm. I'm hearing more people say they can get higher FSB with better northbridge cooling... looking for confirmation.

In the meantime, I've cancelled all preorders I had. Don't know if I'm going E6400 or E6600. I don't see any supply shortages at all. If anything, the price will drop after a week.

    exactly.

Another thing is RD600 - people see it like it's the second coming of the messiah. It could be very good, but what if it's not? This is Ati we're talking about, they first make a product and THEN figure out how good it is.

lol my guess is it will be the other way around mate.
590 runs really hot (see tha AMD version) and if RD600 is anything like RD580 (Xpress3200) it will run quite cool.

im talking about the Graphics cards them selves. they are stupidly hot.... anyone running cross fire should have a fire hose next to their pc incase.

they arent designing the motherboards properly.

ther eisnt enough airflow between the two cards to allow them to run cool enough, all thats happening is the fisrt card is sucking all the hot air off the back of the 2nd card.
you cant cool these cards like that, they almost demand a direct port to the outside of the case to suck cooler air.
and the stock heatsinks blow nuts.. they need to redisign these things.

they also run at twice the core temp of the nvidia core.

ati are just poorly designed full stop. they look cheep to

The last two statements contradict each other...

The R600 is the graphics core, the RD600 is the northbridge chipset.

Does anyone know what the lowest memory speed that the board can run?
