Not lower tesselation ... If it's what i think ... it's Adaptative tesselation, it remove the tesselation where you can not see it ( hidden face of the object ). and remove the tesselation on plane surface ( a big problem actually, tesselation badly used ( Hawx2 ) apply tesselation on plane surface ( superposition ), but you don't need to get tesselation calculated on thoses surfaces ( imagine a window, you apply tesselation on the wall around, but why do you need it on the glass of the window ?, it's a plane surface ) ....
